MELPA Stable is recommended as it has the latest stable version. MELPA has a development snapshot for users who don't mind breakage but don't want to run from a git checkout.
You can install nikki
using the following command:
M-x package-install [RET] nikki [RET]
If the installation doesn't work try refreshing the package list:
M-x package-refresh-contents
Create a diary for today. If it already exists, open it.
Find the directory where the diary is stored and open it with dired. If it doesn't exist, create it.
Enables the use of nikki-open-by-calendar within calendar mode. To use it, add the following line to your configuration file.
(add-hook 'calendar-mode-hook 'nikki-mode)
