CentOS docker images, build weekly with latest security updates

Weekly updated CentOS Docker images

Those images are just standard CentOS base images, but:

1. With all the package updates installed weekly.
2. Squashed to single layer for smaller size.

Supported tags and respective Dockerfile links

• latest, stream, stream9, 9, 3.1.39-stream9, 3.1.39
• stream8, 8, 3.1.39-stream8
• centos7, 7, 3.1.39-centos7

Version numbers use SemVer and they reflect changes done in this repo - they are NOT related to CentOS versioning. For example, each weekly build will rise version number on last place, meaning patch level update.

Image sizes

Updates

CentOS Team stopped updating their base images on Docker hub. They moved to quay.io now, but even there images for CentOS 7 and CentOS 8 are around half a year old. I decided to rebuild them weekly, installing all updates.

docker-centos's Issues

stream9 not publicly available

Hi,

I'm interested in the Dockerfile for the tgagor/centos:stream9 flavor, but the directory is only a symbolic link and not available publicly. I was however able to pull the image successfully. Not sure if this an issue or intentional, but just a heads up :) Cheers!

systemctl does not work with Docker Image

When I try to implement systemctl to enable services at bootup of the container I get the error:

sh-4.4# systemctl
Failed to connect to bus: No such file or directory

I used the code from here: https://davescripts.com/docker-container-with-centos-8-apache-php-using-systemd

Could it be implemented?

No CMD ["/bin/bash"] in dockerfile

Can you add to the Entrypoint of your dockerfile the following:

CMD ["/bin/bash"]

Because that will make your docker centos images interactive without having them force to use the docker run -dit bash command instead.
