msis's Issues

Manual changes in F10.7 and Ap should trigger new surface/altitude plots

When I manually change the F10.7 or Ap values, a new Network request doesn't get sent anywhere? I figured there would need to be a new request sent to the backend to update the surface/altitude plots. I can force a redraw by changing the surface level, and then all of the proper ap/f10.7 values do get sent.

Stop rotation

The automatic rotation is nice upon page loading, but moving around in the scene makes it hard to stay focused on a region of interest. We could remove the rotation timer once a zoom/rotate/click on the frame occurs. Or we could add a play/pause button somewhere to make it selectable.

Stylize the tooltip

Right now we are appending a text element to the svg. I saw a lot of examples of adding a div to the html. I'm not sure if that would make the placement harder or not, but it seems like it may be easier to stylize that way.

I was taking inspiration from this example for how to do things recently:

Make a toggle to choose projections

Allow the user to select what projection they want to view the map in? We will have to think about how interactions work with each of the projections.

Update links

Taking the TODOs list from #1 and turning it into an issue.

  • link to msis api
  • link to msis about and documentation markdown files
  • link to msis code repo

ENH: Capability to download images

Add the ability to download the images.

  • Probably a separate download icon for surface and altitude to save them separately.
  • Can we remove elements when downloading? i.e. we probably wouldn't want the altitude box or surface line in a saved image.
  • Can we add metadata to the save image? It would be nice to put in the Date, F10.7, ap, species, altitude, and location so that someone knew exactly what they made.
