Enhance run.sh to fail with clear error if npm not installed

User Story
As a developer I want run.sh to fail if npm is not installed or fails rather than just continue along.

Acceptance Criteria

  1. Fail if any command fails instead of blindly continuing
  2. Specifically check for NPM install and NPM working and give clear error message
