You can use both, there shouldn't be any problems. However you can look at cacheops.simple it makes almost the same as django caching but uses redis.

It's not documented yet, but here is sample usage:

from cacheops import cache, cached

cache.set(key, {'some': 'data'}) # Any picklable data
data = cache.get(key)

@cached(timeout=15*60):                # 15 mins
def get_something(arg, kwarg=None): # calls with different arguments cached separately
    ...

# caching views is a little trickier,
# since `request` argument usually should be ignored for cache_key construction
def some_view(request, arg1, arg2):
    @cached(extra=(arg1, arg2), timeout=60)
    def _some_view():
        ...

    return _some_view()

# TODO: make a nice @cache_view decorator :)

There are also jinja2 extension for caching template fragments, which is documented in README.

Oh, that's cool!

Before your reply, I had thought that I could use django-redis instead of Django's memcached backend. If I can have a single server running, instead of two, better.

But cacheops.simple, somehow, does the same as django-redis, doesn't it?
