Aliens vs. Predator 2 - Custom Launcher

A custom launcher for Aliens vs. Predator 2, written in C# (with widescreen fix written in C++ and elements of ASM)

Features

• Contains all of the main features of original launcher (except a host server option).
• Allows to easily enable and disable Windowed Mode.
• Supports custom screen resolutions.
• Built in aspect ratio hack for easy access to widescreen resolutions.
• Built in FOV changer, tied directly to aspect ratio hack (calculated as the most common Horizontal+ FOV).

Requirements

• Aliens vs. Predator 2 patched to 1.0.9.6 with Singleplayer Map Update and Multiplayer Map Update installed.
• Windows Vista / 7 / 8 / 10
• Microsoft .NET Framework 4.5
• Visual C++ Redistributable for Visual Studio 2015 32-bit
• Administrator rights on the system (due to writting to memory of other program / injecting DLL libraries etc.)

Installation

Patch the game if you haven't already. Download the program from releases page. Copy it to AVP2 directory. To get rid of annoying question from Windows about download files, right click on AVP_CustomLauncher.exe, and choose Properties. In the General tab, click Unlock.

Note: For the program to work properly, Administrator rights may be required (especially for Widescreen hack). You can set it in Compatibility Options.

Note 2: For running the game on resolutions wider than 2048px you'll need "special" D3DIM700.DLL by jackfuste. It can be found in Over2048pxFix directory. Just move it to main directory and hope it works (cause sometimes it seems it doesn't).

No AVP2SP.REZ found

The launcher throws that error when trying to run it. But my game folder doesn't seem to include the file it's looking for. Any ideas why it's missing, or can you attach the file here? Thanks.

Start launcher centered on screen

The original launcher for the game always starts at the center of the screen; the custom launcher opens more towards the top left corner of the screen. Would it be a good idea to position it at the center as well?

Issue non English Version

Hello,

Is it possible to remove or make optionnal the check/dependency of AVP2SP.REZ file which is the file added by the singleplayer map update.
The update was only for the English version of the game (and cannot been installed on other version).

French version and I suppose all others non English versions already have this fix include in their avp2.rez file (main game file).
I have check all files inside the AVP2SP.REZ, and confirm they are already include (same version/crc) in the avp2.rez of the fra version.

[Request] Raw Input mouse injection

Since AvP2 has so many problems with the mouse (especially those you can't set the polling rate to 125hz on), how about some Raw Input support?

Command line paramete

Hi!
Excellent job, I'm using now your launchers for AvP2 & AvP2-hunt. It's possible include a command line parameter for AVP_CustomLauncher.exe than launch the game with previous setup instead click in "Start the game"?

Aspect Ratio Fix greyed out.

For some reason the aspect ratio fix option is greyed out.

Multiplayer Master Server is online

The Description cites not having been able to test the Custom Launcher in multiplayer on account of the servers being down. Such is no longer the case, unless the Dev team here is already aware of that.

I've been able to play on them, albeit, well, my monitor is all sorts of whacked out, which led me to this page. Will test it on MP soon after this post!

Nothing Happens (details in post)

Game is crashing instantly without error message. It shows in Task Manager Processes for a second and then disappears.

Downloaded the files and installed correctly.

Run as Admin selected and running in compatibility mode for Windows 98/Windows ME (otherwise Client MFC Application Stopped Working).
Only occurs when resolution set to one the game doesn't have by default. I have it set to 1920x1080.

Happens for both base game and Primal Hunt.

Running on Windows 7. Have all necessary software.

Suggestions please.
