stepbible-data's Issues

TBESG - verse reference formatting

Dear David,

Thanks for adding tagging on verse references.

I found a minor formatting issue like this:

TANTT - line 66042

I noted that John 7:53 - 8:11 are not included, but it is a bit strange to have punctuations at the end of John 8:11.

many words are missing in TANTT

I think there may probably be some serious errors in current file of TANTT, uploaded in this repo.
TANTT has more than 100 words less than NA27

there are at least some missing words at the beginning of some verses. e.g. 41_Mat.020.005,
all words are missing in some verses, e.g. 67_Rev.012.018

duplicated entries of G9990

Dear David,

in TBESG

there are two entries of G9990. Also, there is no entry for G9991
I wonder if one of the entries for G9990 is intended for G9991

TBESG - missing G4773

Dear David,

There is no entry on G4773 in TBESG here.

Instead, I find an entry without Strong's number, quoted below:

συγγενευς kindred συγγενής G:A σνγγενής, -ές (dative pl., -εῦσιν, Refs, as though from -εύς, see Swete, Mk., l.with; Bl., § 8, 6; cf. 1Ma.10:89 A א2 *;)

TVTMS has a few malformatted tests

In TVTMS, the following lines specify tests that do not seem to conform to the specification:

Lingala	Psa.12:5	Psa.13:5	Renumber verse	Nec. [12:5]	%Normally in this Bible this verse and the next occur as one verse that is numbered% 12:5. (Hebrew=13:6 • Latin=12:6 • Greek=12:6)	Psa.13:5=Last & Psa.13:1.1=NotExist & Psa.13:3
Lingala	Psa.12:5	Psa.13:6	Merged verse	Nec. [12:5]	%As normal in this Bible the text for this verse is included in the previous verse.% (Hebrew=13:6 • Latin=12:6 • Greek=12:6)	Psa.13:5=Last & Psa.13:1.1=NotExist & Psa.13:3

I assume the "Psa.13:3" condition should be something like Psa.13:3=Exist?

Missing words in Matthew

Dear David,

I am checking TANTT with NA27. I observed that there are still missing words in TANTT.

For example, in Matthew,

Mat 1:22 "ὑπὸ κυρίου διὰ" instead of "ὑπὸ διὰ"
Mat 12:4 "ὃ οὐκ" instead of "οὐκ"
Mat 14:34 "ἐπὶ τὴν" instead of "τὴν"
Mat 15:30 "κυλλούς, κωφούς⸃, καὶ" instead of "καὶ"
...

TANTT - 2 missing words & 1 extra word in the latest file

Dear David,

In the latest file, there are

2 Missing words:
In Matthew 15: 1 "καὶ γραμματεῖς λέγοντες" instead of "καὶ λέγοντες"
In John 12:18, "καὶ ὑπήντησεν" instead of "ὑπήντησεν"

1 Extra Word:
In Rom 11:21, "μή πως" instead of "μήπως μή πως"

Thanks for your great work.

Morphology data in TANTT

Dear David,

In TANTT,

What is "V1" in "SW=ἑαυτοὺς=G1438=F-3APM.V1"?
What is "-K" in "D-DPM-K" & "F-2ASM-K"?
"A-ANP-C" is found once in TANTT, I guess it may be "A-APN-C" instead. Or does it mean something else?

Blessings,
Eliran

Considering a STEPBible data based Knowledge Graph proof of concept

I am contemplating creating a knowledge graph based on STEPBible data.

A couple user stories:

  1. As a user I would like to discover concepts in the Bible so that I can gain a more comprehensive understanding of Bible truths and be able to share these concepts with others.
  2. As a user I would like to enrich Bible concepts and entities with historical, archaeological, geographical, etc. information so that I can gain a more comprehensive understanding of Bible truths and be able to share these concepts with others.

And more to come.

Regards,
Radu

Versification data

If you see data that you have need of which isn’t yet available, please contact us and perhaps you can become part of the checking process.

In that spirit, do you have any data on versification systems? There is limited data publicly available, and it's never very comprehensive. And often when people do have data, they only have the number of verses per chapter in each system, rather than explaining what's actually the cause of the differences (chapter breaks in different places, joined or split verses, etc.)

I've been collecting versification resources as I come across from them, but still haven't found anything that's ideal, and no one seems keen to put forward their data as a definitive resource. (I've asked openscriptures.org too. I should ask Accordance and Logos, they must have a lot of data, and it doesn't seem like something that would hurt their profitability if they published it publicly.)

So yeah, an easy request, but not so easy to fulfil. :)

A guide or tutorial is needed for how to use STEPBible resources

Hello STEPBible Team,

First of all thank you for creating this useful application. I used it on so many occasions during my Bible study and it really helps me understand the richness of Greek and Hebrew texts.

I would like to use STEPBible resources to create a Bible knowledge graph that can be used for tagging various content. I see a lot of mapping data is available that powers up STEPBible app. My guess that there should be some data model used by this app. If such a data model is documented in some guide could you please provide a link.

Also if there is a tutorial or a seminar I could attend to learn how to use STEPBible resources - please let me know.

Thank you and God bless you!
Radu

1Jn 5.13 καὶ ἵνα τοῖς πιστεύουσιν ?

this is rather a question than an issue.

Is there any reason why "καὶ ἵνα τοῖς πιστεύουσιν" was chosen as the text of TAGNT ?

(1 Jn. 5:13 TRG)
and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God. (1 Jn. 5:13 KJV)

it seems to me KJV/SCR matches and make sense; TRG makes sense as well. But TAGNT

ἵνα εἰδῆτε ὅτι ζωὴν ἔχετε αἰώνιον, καὶ ἵνα τοῖς πιστεύουσιν εἰς τὸ ὄνομα τοῦ υἱοῦ τοῦ θεοῦ.

seems syntactically unsmooth .... am I missing something here ?

Thanks.

Badly formatted data in TTESV

There are some lines in TTESV that do not conform to the specified format. I couldn't really figure out how to fix the errors, but they seem to generally fall within the lines of the word index having a +00 and then a long list of strongs numbers.

morphhb or stepbible-data

Thanks for providing this wonderful resource. I am developing a quiz website for students of Biblical Hebrew. I see both this repository and 'morphhb' (https://github.com/openscriptures/morphhb) providing full Hebrew bible and parsing information. I am wondering which is better, accurate, and updated. Thanks again.

Missing newline in TVTMS

This is broken in TVTMS.

Note the text all the way to the right on the last line. It was probably intended to be a line all its own. You may have to scroll way to the right to see it.
