In NYC, we have an official dataset of community gardens' locations that is outdated. 596 Acres has a more up-to-date dataset, but it's not as complete--it deals more with recent gardens. We'd like to have a mapping party where we have the locations of all known gardens available (there are 500+), and people can then trace them with aerial imagery and tag them. This would be handy for researchers who would like to have a consistent database of community gardens, and of course it would be awesome to have them in OSM available for everyone. If we got all of the gardens, we'd move on to vacant lots (596's dataset), but this is a bit more of a moving target.

Not sure exactly where the event will be yet, but I assume I'll be able to get a space at the New School, tentatively the afternoon of Saturday 11/22. Will definitely let you know when I know more.

When I first loaded the page from osmgeoweek, I didn't know where to click. It took me time to figure out that the text in the top bar was actually menu items.
It would be nice to make it more clear (item background or more space between items).
