bluegreenway's Issues

Map directions

Integration with Google directions, so people can find their way not only to trailheads but to places deep within the Parks.

Add Zones to the map

Mission Bay/Rock: King St to 16th St
Pier 70: 16th to Islais Creek (if that's too general maybe use Cesar Chavez St)
India Basin: Islais Creek (or Cargo Way) to Innes Ave
Candlestick/Shipyard: Innes Ave to Jamestown Ave

Western boundaries are 101/80 for all.

Geo Spatial Data sources for map layers

Assessment of data resources, including detailed list of city GIS, calendar feeds, Stamen code/tools to deploy

Where is the Data?

  • Live feed from sfparksalliance.org
  • - Events
  • - Parks

- - Projects

  • Spatial data from static files hosted on CartoDB.com
  • Port of San Francisco

Targeted use of other public data sets (based on story needs)
HIGH INTEREST:
●Waterfront recreation
●playgrounds/community gardens
●green connections project (planning)
●open space (planning)
●tree cover
●census data
●density
●development pipeline layer
●transportation - streets, muni, bike (MTA)

CURIOUS ABOUT
●impervious surface layer
●sea level rise
●health indicators by zip code
●health access layer
●EPA/brownfields/toxics
●sewer flooding (land side from 311 calls)v

Date picker

Find a good reusable React date picker for stories and events pages.

Implement grid algorithm for homepage

quick hit:

Arrange items from lists of 1x1, 1x2, 2x1 across 4-column grid.
Start with most recent item
Iterate over cells in each row
If cell not yet occupied, grab the top item from the next list (e.g. 1x1 -> 1x2 -> 2x1 -> 1x1...)
If cell occupied, move to next

there was more to it, i thought through it lying awake at night once....but that's the starting point.

Add license

We're making this public from the get-go, so what license do we pick?

Technical work plan

Overview of technical approach, including integration with existing resources/processes

Event data feed

Feed from CMS
Surface only Events only tied to BGW locations

Add vision statement (about page)

Blue Greenway Vision Statement

The Blue Greenway is more than a trail; it is a unifying identity for the 13-mile corridor along San Francisco’s southeastern waterfront. The Blue Greenway will link established open spaces; create new recreational opportunities and green infrastructure; provide public access and retain and restore natural habitat areas; through the implementation of the San Francisco Bay Trail, Bay Area Water Trail, and green corridors to surrounding neighborhoods; install public art and interpretive elements; support stewardship; and advocate for waterfront access as an element of all planning and development processes over time.

Mayor Newsom’s, 2006 Blue Greenway Task Force Vision Statement (updated)

Use Custom Basemap on BGW Zone Locator Maps

In http://studio.stamen.com/bluegreenway/show/latest/projects/page use @almccon's basemap. Currently attempting to add it via cartodb.createLayer() is throwing a strange error. Using cartodb.createVis() works but doesn't seem to like having a geojson overlay added to it.

Pushing temporary changes to a separate branch with the name of this issue.
