Let user enter their own ava-rose

This might be useful as noted by Derek who supported it on his CalTopo implementation.

Poorly lit terrain

The terrain is sometimes not lit well enough to see. This may be a problem with the image provider, or the fixed sun position, or both.

Line drawing

Add support for drawing lines on the map. Provide elevation profile info for the line, along with other metrics like distance, average slope angle, etc.

Blue is shown between image provider transitions

I'm sure there's a way to fix this, but right now I'm not sure.

Loading icon is needed during ava-rose region transitions

Add an animated gif or something.

Some pow-proj icon pictures don't show up

In at least some cases this is due to the cross-origin problem, which I don't fully understand.

KML support

Might be nice to let users supply their own KML/KMZ files to be shown on the map. Cesium has some limited support for these file formats.

Some label/icon pairs overlap one another, making text unreadable

Fix it. How?

Add a compass

It would be nice to show a compass that kept the user informed of N/S/E/W as they rotated the map.

Bonus: Use the ava-rose as a compass. Render a 3D model of it that rotates in space. This would be more work, but it's doable and might be cool.

UAC website down case not handled cleanly

The application has no fall-back for the case when the UAC website is not reachable.

Ugly ava-shading when terrain viewed up close

Terrain surface normals reveal a striped pattern when viewed up close. For better results, the terrain must be viewed from a higher elevation.

Tile boundaries show in topo-map view

The topo-map image provider is best viewed top-down, not from the side, because different LOD levels of the map have significantly different shading that causes tile boundaries to appear. Is there a better topo-map image provider out there we can use?

Server shouldn't be trying to parse UAC website html code

Use the UAC API call instead. I still think it's a good idea, though, to just read the ava-rose data from the image. I can check this against the other json data sent back in the response to the API call.
