It seems to do with switching back to a closed chat?

If chats/new/1 is called while the page is active, this status doesn't get cleared. Make this a "temporary" status on device?

Maybe Python for simplicity (built-in web server: $ python -m SimpleHTTPServer [port] + PySerial library), also I want to learn more Python.

currently it sets the device to "off", which confirms communication, but ... doesn't do the right thing

originally I was thinking to limit the identifyImage() function to one image signature per status, but reliability is more important than efficiency at this point. Add as many as needed, and maybe later run experiments on which images actually get used?

I looked in to Olark's app.js file, and these status images are generated dynamically before being turned in to data URIs. Allowing for variation in the image signatures may be a necessary evil 💀

Is this necessary? I imagine it likely is…
