##Usage NB the space for general tranlsation:

you: ! word
dictbot: wort

For de->en, specify the direction with !deen

you: !deen mist

And vice versa:

you !ende mist

##To run locally Change channel and nick in the code for testing purposes.

Make a virtualenv (using python 2.7!), e.g. with virtualenvwrapper, mkvirtualenv dictbot.

Get the required dependencies with pip install -r requirements.txt. Run with python dictbot.py.

##Dictionary Dictionary service provided by bab.la who kindly are allowing this service to be run. Go check them out, it's pretty cool! It even has the translation for the word "crapulence".

dictbot's Issues

filter duplicates

Should be as easy as putting the results in a set.

dealing with ambiguous input

For example band/Band exists in German and English. How do you want to deal with that? My idea would be to change the trigger command to something like:

!deen band

You could have ! band for de<->en as default. Mind the space after ! though. It's important because without it band would be used as a language pair for translating (ba->nd).

Include gender article for returned nouns

I'm not sure how tricky this is, but I wanted to get people thinking about it. Dictbot should return German nouns with the proper gender noted.
