Hi, it seems that this does not work anymore with fedora 29 and some previous kernel versions. Those versions say that they can't find a wifi adapter and even after reinstalling the whole module, it still doesn't work.
I have to go to previous versions of fedora 28 to be able to use the wifi again.
Is an update planned ?
Hi,
i don´t use DKMS, so i build this package at every kernel update with Solus OS.
This works till 5.0.16-116.
With Kernel Version 5.1.7-119 i receive this error message while compiling os_dep (there ist some fix for 5.1 included, but will not work for me):
osdep_service.c:2088:10 Fehler: Implizite Deklaration der Funktion >>get_ds<<; meinten Sie >>get_da<<? [-Werror=implicit-function-declaration]
Change get_ds into get_da is not working, it was only a try... :-).
I use the rtl8723DE on a HP 14dk0002-ng.
hello. i am install new OS with linux 5.0 but this driver not included in linux core by default. why ?
I'm following the instruction to install the module, and got the following error.

What is the problem? The kernel???
I followed the instructions and installed the drivers from the 5.0-up branch on my KDE manjaro system, with kernel 5.1.1-2. Even though I don't get any errors during installation and dkms status rtl8723de
reports rtl8723de, 5.1.1.8_21285.20171026_COEX20170111-1414, 5.1.1-2-MANJARO, x86_64: installed
, I cannot activate neither wifi nor bluetooth, and in the "hardware configuration" menu, the network card will be displayed as an unknown device. Also, the device shows as RTL8723DE when running lspci
so I don't really know what is going on
Hi,
I'm unable to install the package. Please find below details.
Can anyone please provide me with a fixed version of code or any other thing that I'm possibly doing wrong because of which it's throwing an error while compilation. Sorry I don't much knowledge on Driver level code.
Thanks in advance.

Good afternoon,
Thank you in advance for your job.
I am currently using Debian Testing with kernel 4.16.0-2 and KDE Plasma 5.12.5. Yesterday, after updating the kernel (auto-updated), my WI-FI disappeared. I was looking for possible troubles until I realised I had to install the drivers again.
I had the drivers version 4.11-up and downloaded 4.15-up following the instructions on github, but it did not work at all.
I post here the error while building and the make.log
I have also tried to reinstall 4.11-up but had the same problem as well.
I hope it could helps you to fix it, I could try to downgrade my kernel version to fix it but I thought that first of all I had to share it in case someone else had the same problem.
I have a HP laptop 15t-da000 running windows 10 and xubuntu 18.04. dkms install failed. Here is is the make.log

Can this driver create a WiFi hotspot? I tried to create a hotspot using Network Manager but it won't show up on any other device.
Goodnight.
I am new in this environment of the Linux operating system, and only today install through Virtual Box, Kali Lunix 64 bits. I am very excited to learn processes, commands and others and I already found myself with a little problem. I am trying to connect to a WIFI network from the S.O. so I followed the steps as downloading .tbz drivers more exactly version 3.7 of compat wireless. I unzipped the file and according to the guides the command "Make Unload" and then "Make Load" must be done. When I do the first one, everything goes well, but when I do the second one, the error comes out:
"make: *** no rule to make target 'load'. stop"
Could someone help me with this message? Thank you.

It's not an issue but the wifi driver api of openSUSE's leap 4.4.x-Kernel series is vanilla 4.7.x.
Changing the numbers in this line to 4,4,0 enables compilation and usage with openSUSE leap.
As I didn't find a SUSE specific macro to detect their kernels source, I've created an opensuse branch in my fork
kernel panic on boot. Manjaro 5.3.0-1.
In 4.19 and 4.20 just works, but when I tried in 5.0.x this happens:

Unfortunately, I have no programming knowledge. :( . But, saw a similar error which says some variables are not mentioned in the makefile?
I compiled the driver and put it in /etc/modules
to run after boot. but I got this error.
Failed to insert '8723de': Required key not available
How can I fix it?
Hello.
This may be a noob thing as this is the first time I've used dkms, so please be kind. :-)
I downloaded the zip and extracted it. Inside was the README.mk with the install instructions. But the line
dkms build -m rtl8723de -v 5.1.1.8_21285.20171026_COEX20170111-1414
was missing. (Same on the page where to download the zip file.)
As I said, this may be because I'm new to dkms. But I used Google and got the driver built and installed within 5 extra minutes. - Happy. ;-)
Thanks a lot for the driver.

Hi,
Thank you for the dirver provided for RTL8723DE wifi module. It works great so far. But, another issue with the new laptops like HP 15-BS576TX/BS000 range and others is, bluetooth driver missing. My assumption is, WiFi and bluetooth share the same hardware.

I just downloaded the ZIP of the repo (branch 4.11-up) and ran:
make
sudo make install
No errors are thrown but the WiFi card is still not recognized. I am running 32-bit Linux Mint 18.3 with manually upgraded kernel, version 4.14.0-041400-generic.
Any suggestions?
So I cloned and installed as the readme told. No errors during installation, but there is still no wifi interface after reboot.
Machine is an hp 14-bp003ng with the mentioned rtl8723de chip, running a fresh install of ubuntu 17.10.
If you need any more information, let me know.

The driver throws a error when compiling with Linux 4.15 in Archlinux. The error is about "data member" of struct timer_list. The cause is probably the change of timer interface in Linux kernel (https://lkml.org/lkml/2017/11/25/90)
Compile's output error is detailed here:

Help.......
I have got a problem that is following me with this driver. I acquired a new laptop recently and I wanted to install a GNU/Linux operating system on it since I use Arch Linux daily for a long time now and I don't want to deal with Windows. Anyway, my laptop needs this driver to be able to use the wireless card.
With every distribution I successfully installed on the computer, when I install and try to use the wifi thanks to the driver, the system lags and freezes within a few seconds. I am obliged to force a shutdown by holding the power button. Anyway, at the restart I've got a grub rescue prompt. On a debian-based distro I figured out how to deal with it by cearing the orphaned inodes etc. But then, at the next reboot there is a failure saying "no boot device detected" or something similar... The thing is that before using the driver the system worked perfectly, did several reboots... No problem.
I have this issue with all distros I tried :
The problem was always the same. The last time I tried I remember that after installing the driver I rebooted the computer, then I had the wicd tool on xfce available to use my wifi card, enabled it, saw the wifi SSIDs nearby and connected to my router without a problem. It is exactly when the connection was established (or perhaps just before) that it freezes and break everything...
At first I was thinking the problem was something else, another driver for the GPU for example... But really the experience shows that the problem is linked to the RTL8723DE driver.
I tried two ways to install it. On Debian and Kali I did it manually like described in the readme. On Arch I used Yaourt to install from the Arch User Repository... It is quite frustrating because it is just the last step to configure my laptop (it was already a pain to find a distro that supports my cpu, anyway...)
It would be awesome to have an answer to this, maybe I could help to fix it.
Note that the kernel used was always >=4.16 with linux headers updated...
Hi, I have a HP Laptop (Model: HP 15q-BU010TU) that I purchased recently and it came with FreeDOS. I proceeded to install the latest Ubuntu off a USB stick and the installation went just fine. I was connected via a wired ethernet connection at the time. Post installation, I was able to go about my work when I realised that the Wi-Fi wasn't working. I did some searching online and installed the latest version of the rtl8732de drivers from Larry W. Fingers github. Now my system is able to detect that I have wireless capability, but when I click on 'Search for networks' it's spinning forever and none of the network SSIDs appear. I've checked my network setup also and my SSID is hidden and another laptop is able to connect to the same SSID, so it isn't a network issue. Can anyone please help?
Any chance of supporting Linux Kernel 4.9?
Debian Strech(Stable) latest Kernel is only 4.9.
These Drivers require 4.11 I don't want to upgrade and mess up other packages from stable Debian repository.
hey guys,
kernel: 4.20.0-arch1-1-ARCH
Everything worked just fine until now. Faced no issues through the past builds.

Doing a quick scan over the repository, it seems that all the source code is gplv2+
Would you consider adding a license file so that it covers the other files in the repository too so that this could be included in a nice dkms module that can be distributed for systems that would like to do so? thanks
Hi, is there a way to update the driver without uninstalling all then clone the repository again ?
Also, does the driver works for kernel 4.20 ?
Hi! I was installing rtl8723 for my recent single OS installation of kali wirh kernel >= 14.11 as stated by output for:
uname -r
4.14.0-kali3-amd64
cat /proc/version

but upon reaching step:
dkms install rtl8723de/5.1.1.8_21285.20171026_COEX20170111-1414
I got the following error:

Would you please help me? I bought this laptop for work but I can't do much without wireless, I would really appreciate your help. Thanks
Hi,
Ubuntu 18.04.1, mainline kernels, dkms.
Thank you for this driver which saved my HP laptop...
Everything was working flawlessly, and I had no problem upgrading several times from kernel 4.15 to latest versions including 4.18.16.
However building the driver fails against 4.19 with the following log :

After installing the driver, I was able to connect to my home WiFi without any fiddling around. However, I frequent a tea bar and use their WiFi whenever I'm there. It still works on other devices so it's not on their end. When I first noticed this, I tried connecting my phone's wifi hotspot and couldn't connect to that either. I am able to connect to my phone's hotspot via bluetooth though. I thought that it might have been some issue with only being able to have one known wifi network so I tried deleting my home one. This didn't solve the issue and I am still able to connect to my home network. Not sure what other information should be supplied nor do I know how to get it for you to further investigate this issue.
Wifi stays connected but I can't connect to the internet. Turning it off and then back on temporarily solves this issue. Until this issue is solved I can't download large files on my laptop.
I just updated my laptop to 18.04 and it doesn't detects the Wi-Fi card
the 4.11 and up version doesn't work with 18.04
