This session introduces tools for creating dynamic web documents to present and explore data. We will focus on the R tools flexdashboard and shiny.

Prerequisits

  • Basic familiarity with R (e.g. can install packages, source files, and so on).

  • Familiarity with R Markdown would be a benefit.

  • Have a laptop with the following software installed:

    • R and RStudio

    • dplyr, rmarkdown, flexdashboard, and shiny R packages

  • Working internet connection

Checklist of skills you will learn

  • Producing dynamic HTML documents with R Markdown.

  • Creating static data dashboards with flexdashboard.

  • Creating interactive data dashboards and other HTML documents with shiny.
