goodgives's Introduction

goodreads-giveaways

Auto enter giveaways in Goodreads.

Installation and Set-up

Clone the repo and install the pre-reqs.

git clone https://github.com/SkullTech/goodreads-giveaways.git
cd goodreads-giveaways
pip3 install -r requirements.txt

Important: Before running the script, make sure you've entered a giveaway manually at least once. The first time involves setting up a new address, and the script assumes that it's done. Also, if you have multiple addresses set-up, the script takes the first one.

Usage

Run the script from the terminal like the following example.

~/Documents/goodreads-giveaways  master ✔                                0m
▶ python3 giveaways.py

goodgives's Issues

Script worked first time, never since.

The script worked for me the first time after i manually entered the giveaway once and triggered the script.
However, ever since it has not worked for me once. I tried adding, removing, adding address multiple times, still it keeps giving me the same error.

Is it some cache issue from browser or am i missing anything?

Ability to filter books

It seems like it would be unfair to others and not very useful to the user if he gets enlisted in giveaways for genres that he doesn't like. For example, I like to read horror, so I wouldn't be very interested if I won a poetry book and it would prevent someone else from winning. Overall it seems like it would be useful to be able to filter out the books somehow.

tried on both Windows and Ubuntu - not working...

after entering name and password, always returns the following

Traceback (most recent call last):
File "giveaways.py", line 102, in
main()
File "giveaways.py", line 88, in main
login(session, username, password)
File "giveaways.py", line 11, in login
form = tree.xpath('//div[@id="signInForm"]')[0]
IndexError: list index out of range

I've even checked by resetting my password - I use my email and password to login online, but always this error with the script
