FAQ

This seems too good to be true, is it free?

Yes! The embed editor is and will remain free, it comes with a branding ("Powered by SimplePDF") that can be replaced (or removed) with your own logo under the Premium Plan

What happens to the document my users load and the data they fill in?

For the default editor (companyIdentifier is not specified): It stays in their browser! The document(s) that they load and the data they fill in never leaves their computer: SimplePDF privacy policy.

For company editors (companyIdentifier is specified): The users are notified that the document and the data they submit is sent to the server. This is part of the paid offering of SimplePDF: allowing to automate form submissions.

How come the library is so small?

The library is a simple wrapper around an Iframe that loads SimplePDF on-demand (whenever the user clicks the wrapped link), as such the footprint for this "opening an Iframe" mechanism is very tiny, the SimplePDF editor is of course bigger, but your users won't download anything until they have clicked the link. Think "lazy-loading".

simplepdf-embed's Issues

Feature Request : To read text contents from an embedded iframe

Hi! First of all I'd like to thank you for developing such an elegant solution for pdf editing!

I am a developer looking to enable copilot style capabilities on an uploaded PDF file. The thing is, I am currently unable to read the contents from the embedded iframe due to a cross-origin error.

User
Uncaught DOMException: Failed to read a named property 'document' from 'Window': Blocked a frame with origin "mysite.com" from accessing a cross-origin frame.

I am wondering if there are any ways I could read the text out so that it could form part of my LLM prompt.

Thank you!

How to Clear Old Form inputs when launching the embed pdf

Currently I am using the script like
<EmbedPDF mode="inline" style={{ width: 900, height: 800 }} documentURL="https://laborlink-media-bucket.s3.ap-south-1.amazonaws.com/internal/exhibit101.pdf" /> But the issue is that for each user I want to create form I am getting prefilled signature and other details, is there a solution to this

PWA support for simplepdf.eu

Adding PWA (Progressive Web App) support to simplepdf.eu would be a nice addition for frequent users like myself. It provides a more app-like experience, especially on mobile, which I think many would appreciate.

I'm aware that this repository does not handle the development or maintenance of simplepdf.eu. In the absence of a dedicated repo for simplepdf.eu, I'm presenting my suggestion here.

Thank You!
