I just installed the app, I can see all the thumbnails but when I navigate through my pictures, after 5 or 7 pics, all the next ones display black. If I go back to the thumbnails and click on ones of the photo I wanted to see somtimes it displays correctly, sometimes I have to refresh the thumbnails.
At the moment it is possible to copy/move images only to folders which already contain other images. It would be useful the possibility to copy/move images also to other folders in the file system.
Also, would be useful the possibility to create new folders to be used as photo albums.
Thanks.
First off, I love these tools. The K.I.S.S. philosophy (Keep It Simple, Stupid) is often forgotten by developers nowadays & the UI in these apps is wonderfully simple, which has a definite effect on ease-of-use. Keep up the good work.
Now, as for the actual request, I currently use QuickPic 4.5.2 (the last version before it was taken over by CM), mainly because it's the only gallery I've found that has a file manager-style nested browser. I would love to move to an open source one if only to stop Google's update annoyances with QuickPic.
When i try to start Simple-Gallery-1.25 on my android-4.2.2 tablet with 17000 photos on it i get a NullPointerException

Hello!
Firstly, your app is really cool. I appreciate your work and I'd like to say thank you.
Secondly, in my opinion, it would become even better if it could handle SVG files (I have a lot of those because the format is very nice and then with it you don't have to worry about quality and screen resolutions). The format is becoming increasingly popular these days.
To my mind, you could use some existing rendering libraries or web-browsers' webview (I think that there are some showcase apps in F-droid that show how it can be done). Found an example on Github: https://github.com/cw/svg-viewer-android (uses native webview).
There should be a visual indicator of which files are selected (colored border, check mark, etc.) when selecting multiple files.
In RTL languages devices (e.g. Arabic), when opining an Image or video the swap between them shall be from right to left. While English and other LTR are from left to right.
The application doesn't swap to the right way in RTL language devices.
When i enter fullscreen mode by selecting some picture in album (let's call it "first picture"), make some swipes to the other picture ("second picture"), delete it by pressing icon and confirm deletion, viewer returns me to "first picture" view. But i expect opening of pre- or post- "second picture" view. Please give me some coment. Thank you
Is it possible to add a way to share several photos at the same time ?
Thank you very much for your open source app !!
Hey!
I love your app because it is so simple and can play videos out of the box. There is only one feature I am missing. I would like to exclude specific folders from being scanned.
In my case I have many albums of music on my phone, each with a cover as image in the respective directory. In consequence, there are many many folders to scroll through which I don't want to see in my gallery.
Do you think it is possible to add such an option in settings?
Directories like Android,...
I was having an issue in Galley, where it would crash when I rotated my phone. From | | to = and back to | | would make it crash.
Hi,
Don't know if this is an Open Camera problem or a Simple Gallery problem, but this doesn't happen with other gallery apps (I have tried with the default android gallery and QuickPic).
In the default photos save folder (internal_memory/DCIM/Camera) there are pictures taken with the Open Camera app and with the default android camera app.
Problem replication:
If I'm in the Open Camera app and press the button to go to the gallery to see what pictures were taken before, the phone will freeze and I have to take the battery out (the problem depends on what pictures are in the default photos save folder (internal_memory/DCIM/Camera) and depends on which picture is the first one, only some pictures will cause this problem to happen). The problem usually happens immediately, but in very rare cases it will take 1 second to happen or it will happen only the 2nd time.
If I try to open the problematic pictures without using Open Camera (i.e., using directly Simple Gallery or using a file manager to navigate to the picture and opening it with Simple Gallery), the problem won't occur.
I haven't tried another camera app.
I'm attaching one of the problematic pictures.
picture.zip
I'm using Android 5.0. Ask me for more details, I will try to help as I can.
I have a photo with small text, the resolution is 1673x431 and the format is jpg. If I zoom in, I still can't read the text, the image quality doesn't improve. It works with the gallery from Cyanogenmod. Hope you can fix this. Thank you! :)
Hi there, I'd like to report a bug.
I have one directory named "Owen", there are 6 pictures inside. When I open Simple-Gallery, it shows two directory: "Owen" and "owen", with 3 pictures in each directory.
Not sure what causes this, other image viewer that I use don't have this problem.
Is it possible to add a gallery including all pictures from all existing folders? Here, I would prefer to see them ordered chronologically. Thanks!
There is no confirmation screen for deleting images.
It doesn't matter, whether I delete a directory within Simple Gallery itself or with a file manager, Simple Gallery will recreate it shortly after deletion. Simple Gallery can even display the images inside that recreated directory, although the files inside the recreated directory are empty.
If Simple Gallery is not running, the deleted directory is recreated on the next launch of Simple Gallery.
Possibly related to another issue: Deleted pictures showing up on gallery while scrolling #14
First, thank you for sharing this program with us, it is great, I use it all the time!
Could it be possible to add a way to autoplay videos? I.e. every time you swipe to advance to the next file, if it is a video it would autoplay it.
I have some folders with many videos, and it is a bit cumbersome to have to press the play icon for each videos when looking for a specific one.
Maybe you could do this as a toggle in the three dots menu?
I'd have a feature request of showing image based on folders.
I like manage image files in folders and viewing them in (filename) order. Most of the image viewer does not support things like this, starting with the stock image viewer app.
At least I would be pleased to see a feature like this even if it only works with Simple File Manager.
(The only known solution is at the moment Ghost Commander, that has an image viewer functionality)
Thanks for considering this.
Hello,
Thanks for this great app!
I really like it.
Just to make more awesome, we need to make the screen on while playing long videos.
Thanks 👍
It would be nice to be able to rotate images while viewing them. Thanks.
When I try to delete some photos stored in my external SD card (more specifically gifs), the application silently crashes and self-closes. The app never asked me for SD card access (I'm using Android 5.0 Lollipop), and thus the photos remain untouched.
I have a problem to cast video or photo to my TV with tubio application.
To cast local media file with this app, i must launch tubio and choose "read local media file". Tubio asks me to choose an application. I use simple gallery but when i select one of my videos, i just can read it in simple gallery. I can't select it in order to use this file in tubio to cast on my TV.
With other gallery apps, it works.
Is it possible to fix this, please ?
(Sorry for my bad english, tell me if you don't understand my problem)
Pictures deleted via the inbuilt delete button somehow show up while scrolling other pictures in fullscreen.
The only way to permanently delete these pictures is to open Es Explorer and delete a couple of 0.00B (0 Bytes) files with the same name as the deleted pictures.
Image filter is being used a lot these days. I suggest if Simple Gallery has Image filter will make it used in very large amount of users
This is very awesome tool for that: https://github.com/Zomato/AndroidPhotoFilters
Could it be possible to add a way to send the app in immersive mode when browsing the pictures and videos of a folder? By immersive mode, I mean hiding the transparent button bar at the bottom of the screen, with the back, home and activities buttons. Or at least, a way to make the bottom bar disappear when you have taped on the screen to hide the file info, the tools icons, the status bar and the process bar for videos. This way, we would have a full screen viewing experience.
Maybe by adding it as a toggle in the three dots menu?
Are there any stock dependencies? Cause on SlimKat, Simple-Gallery shows nothing.
If so, could you please implement an option to define your path?
And why orange? :-/
