There are three broken links in the About/team.html page: those to the websites of Profs. Gale, Ordejón and Soler. They need to be updated in _data/steering.yaml.

This issue is created to keep track of all the changes we need to apply to the website when we do the 5.0 release:

• Create a release news item.
• Update the text and links of the DFT+U+SOC piece of news (https://siesta-project.org/siesta/2023/02/13/DFT+U+SOC.html).

• Create a release news item.
• Update the text and links of the last paragraph of the libOMM news item (https://siesta-project.org/siesta/2023/04/26/modular-orbital-minimization.html).

I thought the SIESTA 2020 JCP (https://doi.org/10.1063/5.0005077) was behind the paywall, but today I discovered that

• it is available for free (but not open access, see how the logo is different to, e.g., https://doi.org/10.1063/5.0004445), and
• AIP also provides a copy of the accepted manuscript.

I wonder if we should update the text of https://siesta-project.org/siesta/2020/05/28/overview-paper.html to

• add a "free" tag to the right of the link to JCP, in an analogous way to the OA logo by the links to the publications reported in the last two news items, or change the text to say that it can be accessed/downloaded for free; and/or
• check the open access policy of JCP regarding the accepted manuscript, and consider updating the text/links to open access versions in the last line of the page.

I think the website should refer at some point to the MaX webinar "New developments in SIESTA for high-performance materials simulations" (http://max-centre.eu/webinar/new-developments-siesta-high-performance-materials-simulations), but I am not sure what section this content to (outreach/showcase?). It provides a nice overview of SIESTA, and its duration is reasonable ("five short talks plus Q&A").

Some senior members of the project have repeatedly manifested an interest in a revamp of the website.

For example, news could have a more prominent role on the front page, as mentioned in #3. Then twitter was also mentioned as a source of news, and maybe https://github.com/rob-murray/jekyll-twitter-plugin could be used to display the last tweets of https://twitter.com/siestaDFT on the front page?
