As said here, I want to implement some sort of multilevel communication. Sharing a socket with more thread isn't a good pratice, so I guess the easier way is to create two different socket, one that deals with "normal" communication (sending indexes) and another that deals with "special signals" (switching off etc.) such as the diagram below.

I'm working on this implementation, help wanted!
