Error while installing nodejs

Phone Model: Samsung 8+
Termux Version: 0.53

After running "startArch" I tried: $pacman -S nodejs
Got the following errors.

error: could not determine filesystem mount points
error: failed to commit transaction (unexpected error)

Also, great job! Would like to join the dev team.

Using pacman on fails on i686 machine (Chromebook)

I successfully installed ArchLinux in Termux with your script on my Chromebook. However, pacman cannot make a connection to any of the servers that I uncomment in /etc/pacman.d/mirrorlist. Adding archstrike and/or blackarch in pacman.conf also does not help.

In Termux itself I am connected and can install stuff with apt.

Here my system information (I am using the latest install script):
1 uname -mo
i686 Android ("i686 GNU/Linux" from within the Arch environment)
2 getprop ro.product.cpu.abi
x86
3 getprop ro.product.device
relm_cheets
4 ls -al ~/arch
see screenshot

Any ideas? Looking forward to use Arch in Termux...

`vi` Command Not Found

It tried to install Termux Arch on a chrombook using the latest setupTermuxArch.sh from this git repository. During install the scipt asks whether to use vi or nano for file editing. When I choose vi,
I get the following error message afterwards.

Would you like to run `locale-gen` to generate the en_US.UTF-8 locale or do you want to edit /etc/locale.gen specifying your preferred language before running `locale-gen`? Answer run or edit [r|e]. e
/data/data/com.termux/files/home/arch/root/bin/finishsetup.sh: line 23: vi: command not found

vi, however, is installed in my termux environment.

$ which vi
/data/data/com.termux/files/usr/bin/vi

I also tried to select nano, this results in a "nano: command not found".

Python's "pip install" fails with "permission denied"

In a fresh installation of Termux+ArchLinux on unrooted Android device (Samsung Note 8) I am constantly getting error trying to install python packages:

$ pip install simplejson
...
    Copying simplejson.egg-info to /root/.local/lib/python3.6/site-packages/simplejson-3.13.2-py3.6.egg-info
error: [Errno 13] Permission denied: '/root/.local/lib/python3.6/site-packages/simplejson-3.13.2-py3.6.egg-info/PKG-INFO'

Permissions are ok, at least I can copy files to the destination directory. "pip install --user" or using virtual env pyvenv change nothing.

For full description please see https://stackoverflow.com/q/48125865/1860309

Is there a workaround for the problem?

Thank you!

Cannot access termux root/

while it's wonderful to have a full fledged Linux distro in our phones, I think there is plenty of room there for improvement.
I'm running on Lollipop 5.1.1 armv7l,
For some reason output of 'ls' command has been set to b/w and needs "--color=always"
Also once logged, user is sort of locked in to "~/arch/" directory, this one is a harsh limitation that combined with Interpreted environment feels less flexible compared to default Termux environment.
I think you must have seen it coming that, for a distribution like this, the default internal space of device storage will quickly fill up. Support for external SD cards would be great.
Vim 8.x seems to look for VIMRUNTIME files in "/share/vim/vim80" whereas actual files reside in "/usr/share/vim/vim80"

Arch kernel and Android kernel compatibility

Please explain it to me:

Arch is currently on kernel 4.14.13 while Android 8.0 Oreo has kernel 4.10
Do different versions work together or may I find errors?

Also, previous Android are on older versions: 7.0 Nougat has kernel 4.4.1
Are older versions stil usable with a bleeding edge OS as Arch or Fedora?

ssh-agent >> PRNG is not seeded

I installed the TermuxArch and I want to use it as my default shell, so I am migrating my settings from the termux as much as possible.

One of the thngs I want to use is the ssh-agent, so I do not have to type the password each time I do remote ssh or scp. However when I do the:

ssh-agent

I got the:

Any ideas?

Alpine Linux?

HI TermuxArch

Just wondering if there is any chance of getting Alpine Linux available for Termux?

Reason I ask is for the very minimal size of Alpine - which is suitable to the limted space of chromebooks

Cheers

Justin

Seriously

it really pisses me off how whenever someone asks for a package in termux you just direct them here to your own project. why dont you actually try and contribute to termux?

WebKit Browsers Showing Nothing instead of Web Content

I have installed Arch Linux and LXDE successfully, and they run pretty well (nothing short of amazing).

However, WebKit browsers, although drawing the UI, are not displaying websites.
When I run them on the terminal, they output hundreds of errors that look like Failed to create shared memory file /WK2SharedMemory.##########: Permission denied
Apparently, the issue comes from /dev/shm (or its nonexistence) : https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1347436

So far, I've been using NetSurf, which works.

Every Mirror Returning 404

Not sure why this is happening. I enabled a whole bunch of mirrors, and it's clear something is wrong with the internet connection during the install. Help?

How to solve this error?

ERROR md5sum mismatch! Setup initialization mismatch! Update your copy of setupTermuxArch.sh. If you have updated it, this kind of error can go away, sort of like magic. Waiting a few minutes before executing again is recommended, especially if you are using a new copy from https://raw.githubusercontent.com/sdrausty/TermuxArch/master/setupTermuxArch.sh on your system. There are many reasons that generate checksum errors. Proxies are one reason. Mirroring and mirrors are another explanation for md5sum errors. Either way this means, "Try again, initialization was not successful." See https://sdrausty.github.io/TermuxArchPlus/md5sums for more information.

    Run setupTermuxArch.sh again. Exiting...

aapt in TermuxArch

Hi there, first of all thank you for such a wonderful port of ArchLinux. I am currently trying to convert cheap affordable tablet into teaching computer for under privilege kids in my neighborhood. I have so far manage to install nodejs as well as postgres database to teach basic HTML scripting, however I am stuck when I tried to use Cordova to build hybrid app.

After installing Cordova, I use the cordova build command, however I can't get it pass the aapt

Since the error says it cannot execute aapt, I tried manually running aapt and this is the result:

I assumed the aapt is not compiled for my armv7, so I installed aapt in termux, copied it and try running it TermuxArch. aapt is able to execute in termux, but it failed again in TermuxArch:

At this point in time I am stuck. Can you shine some light on how to get aapt running in TermuxArch? Thanks.

Stephen
