alpine_kindle_kual's Issues

Alpine image for a 2GB PW2?

All I really want is to run chromium, but even if I deleted all my books, there wouldn't be enough space for the default alpine image. Is there a smaller image somewhere?

Working on Kindle Paperwhite 2 4gb model. (With minor issues.) [IDEAS]

I managed to get this working on a Kindle Paperwhite 2. The screen and items on the screen are too large to use comfortably, but it does function. To press the start menu you have to touch the very inside corner of the screen very carefully.

Would it be possible to include a screen density changer script?

Time locked to UTC?

How does one setup the timezone in this image? I have set /etc/timezone to the right string, but the time still doesn't adjust itself. its stuck at UTC. trying to setup ntpd also fails as it has multiple symbol errors

Alpine failed to start in kual

After following the instructions for alpine kindle kual, it does not start when I go to deploy the desktop. Is there anything I am missing? Also, I have (just to try) unzipped the alpine.zip into alpine kindle kual and still it does not work...

Am I supposed to be connected to WiFi? I am on airplane mode. Thank you.

Dashboard project questions

Hey @schuhumi

Great work with this. I've got it working on PW2. I'm hoping this will be a none interactive dashboard. I've got Chromium opening in Kiosk mode, however there are a couple of things I cannot resolve:

  1. Getting it working in landscape mode. In one of your reddit comments you mentioned it's possible using the XFCE config, where can I find this? I've seen startgui.sh in the fs root, do I need to alter this? (I tried the kterm rotating trick but this didn't work for me)
  2. Can I get rid of the mouse cursor when chromium is open full screen I do not see it hovering? It looks like there is a linux app called unclutter that hides the cursor after a second of not moving, any advice on how I can get this installed?

Thanks again

postmarketOS on kindle ?

If we can install Alpine Linux on a Kindle, why not install postmarketOS built on Alpine Linux? This is just an idea I want to propose. Please, anyone who knows how to implement it, share with us.
