dataverse-data-explorer-v2's Issues

bad API key when clicking "view categories" on a public tabular file

Hi! We are playing around with Data Explorer v2 over at Harvard Dataverse:

I've noticed some strange behavior when I try my 2023-01-03.tab file at https://dataverse.harvard.edu/file.xhtml?fileId=6867331&version=4.0

Screenshot 2023-10-27 at 3 59 21 PM

I end up on this URL:

https://dataverse.harvard.edu/dataverse-data-explorer-v2/?fileId=6867331&fileMetadataId=6747643&dvLocale=en&siteUrl=https://dataverse.harvard.edu

When I click "view categories" for language, the console tells me "bad API key":

The bad API key/token is "null" from this URL:

https://dataverse.harvard.edu/api/access/datafile/6867331?format=subset&variables=v30256085&key=null

Now here's the interesting thing. If I hack on the URL and enter a valid API key like this...

https://dataverse.harvard.edu/dataverse-data-explorer-v2/?fileId=6867331&fileMetadataId=6747643&dvLocale=en&siteUrl=https://dataverse.harvard.edu&key=REDACTED

... the plot looks fine when I click "view categories":

This is ok in a pinch but a public dataset shouldn't need any API key at all, right?

Can't find piwik.js

Hi, I am integrating data-explorer as an external tool for dataverse. After finishing the installation, I ingested a tab file to test it. When I click the explore button, it shows:
image
It seems that it couldn't find the piwik.js file and my metadata information(https://dataverse.shanghai.nyu.edu:8080/api/access/datafile/88/metadata/ddi?fileMetadataId=43&key=9aeb3106-d30d-462c-9d7b-6e6e386a15e0).

I tried to find piwik.js file with the "find" command in my server but it found noting. Anyone knows how to deal with it?

PROV has median and average

A researcher reported that PROV shouldn't have average and median. We should review in which variable we should add those stats

Add Matomo tracking

From Sabina:

<!-- Matomo Tag Manager -->

<script>
  var _mtm = window._mtm = window._mtm || [];
  _mtm.push({'mtm.startTime': (new Date().getTime()), 'event': 'mtm.Start'});
  (function() {
    var d=document, g=d.createElement('script'), s=d.getElementsByTagName('script')[0];
    g.async=true; g.src='https://analytics.scholarsportal.info/js/container_MOTMjz1l_dev_860b195d069efc12f7a26700.js'; s.parentNode.insertBefore(g,s);
  })();
</script>

<!-- End Matomo Tag Manager -->

Cross tabulation remains empty?

Hi
Apologies for the duplicate with a recently sent email.
As I am quite new to this please forgive any inaccuracy. This looks promising but I don't manage to make it work. Blame it on me, probably.
I'm taking the first (complete) file in this dataset as a base : https://demodv.scholarsportal.info/dataset.xhtml?persistentId=doi:10.80240/FK2/MFAASB
UNF:6:/lc3kmcXnr0yujpAruayfw==

  1. In the first version, as soon as you choose two relevant variables (here gender and birth province) you get a nice graph and table for each one of them (not crossed unfortunately, ie there's no repartition by gender inside each province).
    I tried to reproduce this in version 2 :
  • you have to explicitly click on "summary stats", am I correct? I preferred the dynamics of having the graphs served right after field selection.
  • the gender variable gives nothing ; the birthProvince gives the same as above.
  1. I tried the cross tabulation with these two variables. I put them respectively in "rows and "columns".
    First remark, there's nowhere to specify a field for values (in that case the relevant value would be the number of records).
    Second remark, the resulting table is empty.
    What am I missing, in both cases?

Thanks in advance for your time.

Thomas

Add preview mode support

This issue has been migrated from the previous version of the Data Explorer: scholarsportal/Dataverse-Data-Explorer#21

Similar to the preview mode for file previewers, create an in-page preview mode for the Data Explorer. This should ideally hide the header and set the language based on what is set in the DV UI.
