LoRa library - Receiver stopping at random times

Hi,

I am sure you get lots of questions about various contributions you have made but I hope you will have time to help me :)
Using the Lora lib on an ESP32 Wroom 32U, VS Code/Platform IO, own HW. Lora board is RFM95W.
It was painless to get the library running and everything seemed to work perfectly. I am using LORA in remote control application where the remote control is the Master and the Motorboard acts as a slave.
Half duplex communication.
Transmitting works flawlessly.
Receiving works flawlessly for a while. Then it suddenly stops and it looks like the RFM95W modules has fallen asleep or died. I have a LED connected via transistor to DIO1. When the receiver works that LED blinks happily.
The DIO0 is connected to my ESP.
When looking at the signals (Oscilloscope) on this line I would normally see a short hi-level when the board receives a package. I am polling the receiver - not using interrupts on this.
However - when the board stops receiving that signal is no longer there.
But plenty of activity on the chips select line.
I have successfully had 50k+ transmissions with a miss rate of less than 0.5 %. Both the transmitting board and the receiving board is a few feet apart on my lab. I have tested range a bit and 4 km+ is easy.
I seem to be unable to figure out why the receiver keeps stopping. I understand that I am not alone -judging from Google - but I cant find a solution.
In order to isolate the problem - is there a way to check if the receiver is Ok ?
I have tried to read out the RSSI when receiver is not working and that goes fine. But it doesn't give me any error message :)
If the module transmits something I have a feeling that the problem occurs more seldom. But when Motorboard is waiting for a command the receiver just stops at one unpredictable point.
Is there anything I can do in the sw to check if receiver works and maybe reset it ?
Or do you have any ideas on how I should approach this ?
Best regards,
Per Inge Kvindesland
