I'd love to use this module in a c-lightning plugin I'm working on, but it seems like there's no good way to do this without simply copying the files (which I think is what others have been doing).

It would be nice if this module could be published on PyPI so the community can leverage it without copying the files around.

I have also tried this repository as a git submodule, but local imports fail to resolve in this setup. But I believe if this is refactored into a proper package this would work, so potentially it would not require publishing on PyPI.

Looks like someone broke out the bech32 submodule from this repository and published here: https://pypi.org/project/bech32/

We are using a derivative of this in Electrum but it is currently illegal since it seems that no license has been granted. Would appreciate licensing under a MIT compatible license.
