time.Time pointers

Hello,

why do you use pointers to time.Time variables?

CreatedDatetime   *time.Time      `json:"createdDatetime"`
PaidDatetime      *time.Time      `json:"paidDatetime"`
CancelledDatetime *time.Time      `json:"cancelledDatetime"`
ExpiredDatetime   *time.Time      `json:"expiredDatetime"`

Because when you want to store the value of CancelledDatetime in for example a database you have to check if it is nil first before you can get the value of the pointer, right?
