slate's Introduction

I write software (and occasionally words) to help people accomplish their goals, avoid tedium, and learn something new about the world we inhabit and the systems we use. I have a particular interest in human-computer interaction, embedded systems, efficient infrastructure, and cross-disciplinary integration. Read more about me on my website.

I'm currently on the Infrastructure team at Arcesium. We provide advanced data, operations, and analytics software to the financial services industry.

slate's Issues

Date Picker Z-Index

If a column only has one file and the date picker is opened, the pop-up window is cut off.

Design question and study plan

  • Develop design question (currently: use an "open" button or a double-click action to open files from cards?)
  • Study plan:
    • A description of tasks users will perform with your interface. Plan tasks that take no longer than 5 minutes. You will conduct your study during studio—keeping your tasks short means you can have lots of people participate in your study
    • The dependent variables (i.e., your measurements of the effects the change of the interface will have on users’ experience). The only requirement for this assignment is that you have at least one dependent variable that can be measured with a questionnaire item (like perceived task difficulty) and one that can be measured using more objective instruments (like task time, accuracy rate, or counts of interface events).
    • A brief description of how you will measure each of the dependent variables. This could include using a stopwatch, having the participant answer questionnaire items, and logging events from your interface code.
    • A testable hypothesis, describing how the independent variable relates to each of the dependent variables
    • A description of the kind of statistical test you can run for each hypothesis to validate whether there is a statistically significant effect of the interface variant on the dependent variable. You may wish to look at slides from class to recall the kinds of tests that can be used for different types of hypotheses.

Recently Deleted

  • encode parent child relationship
  • implement recently deleted stack
  • data object which reference config.json
  • reorganize config.json to address these changes
  • integrate Immer for stack integrit
  • implement Redux global state management

Tests:

  • deleting a column deletes all the children but ofc, saves it
  • deleting a card does not delete the column
  • The exact number of cards are retrieved by 'undo'
  • serial deletion and undo
  • serial undos followed by serial redos

Imports from filesystem

  • Backend electron IPC call thing to load file list
  • Add local import button on import sidebar
  • Create new card from single selected file
  • Parse all files in a selected folder to new cards

Text note cards

Create and interact with text-based sticky notes on the main screen
