robak's Issues

Telemetry box

Measure GPS position, speed and acceleration in real time.

Connects with a PC via Bluetooth

Body does not sit tight

description

When driving, the Body often falls off. Doesn't fit together with the v1.2 TopDeck

solution

Attach using clips or magnets. Make some room for the heat sink.

Not enough room for HSP 108015

affects version

v1.1

hotfix v1.1.1 will be released as soon this is done

description

HSP 108015 shaft pushes and blocks on the differential cup when suspension arms in extreme position.

solution

Extend hubs and move CVDs 1.5mm to the outside.

following parts will change

  • SteeringHub
  • CarrierHubRearLeft
  • CarrierHubRearRigth

Differential is slightly shifted to the left

I noticed the optimal position for the differential is off the diff case center. That means the left differential cup sticks out more from the diff case (~1mm).

When pushing the differential back to the center, the gears start jamming.
I won't fix that unless it turn out the backlash was too big.

can't open stl files

I have downloaded 3D models .zip package from releases for v2.1, each stl file only has 131 bytes and can't be opened by cura.

I then clone the whole project using git, same results.

I am trying view stl model directly in browser on github site, it can't be render too.

Thicker Top Deck

description

Currently it's 3mm and often breaks in head-on collisions

solution

  • 5mm thick
  • in 2 parts- easier to print

Diffs might need to be reversed

For my sensored motor pair, I had to reverse both differentials from the drawing you posted to me on Discord.. I did not check the actual step file, but you might not have considered that sensored motor/esc pairs usually (and I'm assuming here.. I don't really know this) turn motor in one direction ONLY. Switching motor leads is NOT an option.. unless you also want to rewire the sensor cable AND fiddle with the timing which is now changed from the marking on the case.. (not a real option).

You might want to have a "live" document that provides build advice and is updated when needed.. 3D Sets does this with their build guides, so when you get it from the net, it is always up to date.. You can put things on it like screw lengths that are not obvious from video; and things like the diff direction.

Gap between arms and carrier hubs

description

There is too much play between suspension arms and carrier hubs both on front and rear.

workaround

Use 1 or 2 M4 washers.

solution

1.6mm less distance in the wishbones carrier hub slots

Embossing on arms

Hello.
I think that small embossing on arms will be useful.
Smth like "FR" for front-right.
Arms looks same for not skilled user like me. So I printed it one by one an marked arms to not make mistake.
With embossing like on new diff I can print all arms at onse and not afraid build mistakes

Splitted body

Current body is really big.
I can split it into 2 parts in 3D Builder, print and glue together.
But I think You can design smth better. Maybe shaft or bolted joints...

Shock cap rubs against Tower

description

This puts some tension on the shaft

solution

  • higher Tower bumps
    or
  • a spacer between the tower and shock's ball head

Motorblock & spur gear bearing missing / incompatible

During my build I was struggling with how the spur gear axis is "connected" to the motorblock. Intuitively, I wanted to fit a second, bigger bearing into that hole but my 5x16x5mm bearings I have left from my printers just would not fit. And it is not in the design files either - on purpose?
Anyway, I am going to adjust the design and increase the inner hole by 1mm to 16. Dunno if it is a bug or not intended to contain a bearing, but I will try it anyway. I think it relieves some pressure from the small bearing next to it.

I can't clone repo with LFS data

Hello!

During a cloning, I got this message:

Error downloading object: DRAWINGS/HingePins.pdf (04f637b): Smudge error: Error downloading DRAWINGS/HingePins.pdf (04f637b836a2dc1a01f305a50a70553f9a62fe9e067daa620919f41b51f7a4f9): batch response: This repository is over its data quota. Account responsible for LFS bandwidth should purchase more data packs to restore access.

Is this a problem on my side or github is actually limiting this repo?

Weak connection between Chassis and BraceBigPart

description

Sometimes, when hit head-on, the 4 short screws pull off from the Brace and the whole front end separates from the Chassis.

solution

M3 threaded inserts or hex nuts in the BraceBigPart

Cannot Clone git repo

Looks like trying to clone the repo results in an error.

Downloading DRAWINGS/HingePins.pdf (116 KB)
Error downloading object: DRAWINGS/HingePins.pdf (04f637b): Smudge error: Error downloading DRAWINGS/HingePins.pdf (04f637b836a2dc1a01f305a50a70553f9a62fe9e067daa620919f41b51f7a4f9): batch response: This repository is over its data quota. Account responsible for LFS bandwidth should purchase more data packs to restore access.

I can download the releases fine, so there is no loss of access to the files, just that it cannot be pulled using git clone without error.

No step file for 2.2.0-beta branch

The step file is nice for people who want to adjust parts or design accessories in context. The main branch has STEP/robak_v2.1.0.step it would be nice is the 2.2.0 branch also had a step file that matched the .stl files.

Collaboration process

I am a huge fan of your design and will come up with some addons / improvements over the months to come. Is there a good way to collaborate with you over Fusion360 (I'm just an enthusiast with 8 years of 3d printing experience, not a pro). Github probably not an efficient path!? If you welcome my input and know a process, let me know.
Current list of todo's / issues:

  • Bearing motorblock (above)
  • Minor improvs: stronger battery mounts (broke off after 10mins) & adjust topdeck wire holes for my Rocket 540 V3
  • Bellcranks with nuts
  • Distance servolink to topdeck too close
  • Front bumper
  • LED bar: magnetic mount (attachable)
  • New body with rollcage https://github.com/robaki-dev/robak/issues/18
  • Spoiler
  • Attachable Gearbox Cover (as posted on Discord)
  • Wheelie Roll Bar (maybe)

If there is an overlap with your current efforts, please let me know.
