Build

If you do not have package xrpl in your local Conan cache, you can add the Ripple remote to download it:

conan remote add ripple http://18.143.149.228:8081/artifactory/api/conan/conan-non-prod

The build requirements and commands are the exact same as those for rippled. In short:

mkdir .build
cd .build
conan install .. --output-folder . --build missing
cmake -DCMAKE_POLICY_DEFAULT_CMP0091=NEW \
    -DCMAKE_TOOLCHAIN_FILE:FILEPATH=conan_toolchain.cmake \
    -DCMAKE_BUILD_TYPE=Release \
    ..
cmake --build .

validator-keys-tool's Issues

command not found

Hello community!
I am trying to spin up a validator and I am stuck at generating a key with the command "$ validator-keys create_keys" as this only returns "command not found". Has anyone had the same issue? Btw, I am absolutely new to this. The node is running and shows "full". Using Ubuntu 22.04 and the key tool seems to be installed.

cmake -DCMAKE issue.

During the cmake step, I get the following output. I even tried adding the path to rippled but still doesn't work. I know I'm missing something.

Unable to build validator-keys-tool in macOS

I am trying to build validator-key-tool, but got following error:

./Validator-Keys Trouble

Hello All,

I am running into a problem running the command ./validator-keys. It is returning the following error after running the cmake --build . command:

/build/gcc.debug$ ./validator-keys
-bash: ./validator-keys: No such file or directory

I am at the very last step and cant figure this out. Please Help!

Need Boost 1.71 support

Fails to build with Boost 1.71. Works fine with1.70.

Support for Boost 1.71 was added to rippled in commit XRPLF/rippled@ca6d579. Some of those changes may be relevant, but I haven't dug in to it.

Can validator-keys.json be recovered from [validator_token]?

[validator_token] from rippled.cfg seems to be base64 encoded JSON. Is it related to validator-keys.json?

Disregard, I see it is a onetime token generated from the key pair.

Conan Error Installing - Cannot load recipe

Seems the recipe is calling xrpl/2.1.0 does not exist.

Tool instalation

Hi! This is more of a question than an issue, sorry if this is not the appropiate place to post it.
I'm trying to build this tool in a machine running Ubuntu 22.04, but I can´t manage to find the necessary files for adding to the PATH.
I have a rippled server installed, by the steps detailed in this page, but I seen that i have to manually build rippled, is that right? Is there some way of avoiding this?
I'd like to clarify that i'm somewhat new in this area, so maybe there´s some misunderstanding by my side.

Feature request Multisig

Assumption multisig can't be used here.

Allow a multisig to be used in the place of the signer_key, where by a validator has ability to take on a DAO type structure.

I know there is already a word salid of keys that end up against a validator and this won't make that any simpler.

Unsure how that effects the manifest.. still not found documentation as to what's in there or how that is composed. Is that possibly a blocker?

With the update to v1.10.0 there is no way to compile this tool

When trying to compile the "old" way, you would get an error:

There are no conanfiles for this tool. 

Trouble installing Validator-Keys-Tool

Hello,

I'm trying to host my own Rippled Validator and as a part of the process, I need to generate a key using the 'Validator-Keys-Tool.'

I've been stuck on a particular step in the process and though I would ask to see if you had any insight into the issue. I'm sure I will eventually figure it out but if it's something anyone is familiar with, any assistance would be appreciated.

Following the README for this project, I cloned the repository, "CD'ed" into the directory and executed in bash: "cmake -DCMAKE_BUILD_TYPE=Release ../.."

Support signing via a third party signer

Validator keys tool currently supports generating of the validator token using a private key that lives on the disk. For security, we're storing keys over HSM and MPC, that is exposed via an API. The API accepts payload to sign and eventually returns a signature.

The private key is never exposed outside of the system so it is not possible to import the private key on the disk for signing purposes. The signing process has to happen remotely, via an API call.

There are different ways of implementing this but one that comes to mind is:

1. The validator keys tool supports some CLI option that produces the payload / digest to sign
2. We take this payload / digest and make the API call to sign via a curl command
3. Once we have the signature, we pass that into the validator tool, into something that finalizes it into the validator token

Thoughts?

Tags for packaging

Could you tag releases so that downstream package repositories can fetch them instead a commit? This makes updates easier, more automated and better trusted because the commit cannot be from a fork.
