Hi rhymu! It's Dhghomon (Dave MacLeod) from the comments in some of your livestreams (the Canadian that lives in Korea). I can't find your email anywhere so thought I'd pick a repo to write a comment on.

So the quick story is that last summer I wrote a book called Easy Rust that explains Rust in easy English, after which a company called EdgeDB got in touch with me and asked if I could write something similar for their software. I started that contract in September and the book will be released pretty soon.

With that out of the way, here's why I'm writing a message here:

One of the reasons they got in touch with me was that the majority of the software is written in Python but they rewrote the CLI in Rust (and are very happy with the performance improvements) and have a few other components that could deserve a rewrite. I mentioned last month that I love your stream and that you sometimes do contracting work, and that it would be great to contract you to rewrite one of the components live on your channel in the exact same way you rewrite everything else, just exploring and doing it bit by bit, interacting with the commenters and their ideas and enjoying the process. EdgeDB is pretty close to moving to Beta and along with the new learning materials we think it would be great to have some VODs out there with an experienced hand like yours going through the code unfiltered and just seeing what happens as one part gets rewritten.
