morcc's Introduction

MORCC (Modular Opensource Remote Control Car)

MORCC is the open source project for a Modular Opensource Remote Control Car which one can 3D print parts and swap modules as needed. There currently isn't an alternative open RC project on this scale especially one that's modular (you can googgle that if you don't beleive me).

MORCC is designed to be a framework system where you start with the core drive train crossbar and build the car up from there. If you want different bodywork, a front or rear wing you can download and print the parts. Want a formular type open wheel car no worries, want a truggy or a endurance style Hyper or GT car This is ehere MORCC accells, What if you want a open style framework buggy you can do that too MORCC can do them all.

Main website is at: Modular Opensource Remote Control Car

Where is MORCC currently:

As of June 2024 the design for MORCC is undering the first prototype concept car development in CAD, Fusion 360

What's currently needed:

The project is currently looking for people with skills in RC car building or just passionate people in general to help with the initial CAD designs.

Also a webpage designer.

Updates:

Updates are now in the wiki here Project Updates

So people can see there is a update if there are no file changes:

Last major Uodate: June 2024

  • Core has been CAD designed.

morcc's Issues

Alluminium' profiles

Was reconmended to start with profile for the modular system.

Looking online there are 3 types of main drive systems.
Geared drive - 2wd witrh a gear system attached to a motor, that will be int he back or front modules so not needed here
Belt Drive - Street racing cars AWD
Shaft drive - More for offroad cars etc but also some street cars

Its up to us to decide what type of profiles to use for both belt and shaft here is 2020.
Some 2020 have extra holes we can urilise or go to something like a 3030,
image0 (1)

There are other types of profiles with diffrent hole mounting.
I don't think 2020 profile will support shaft drive as the whole may be too small but will for belt drive it could.

So the purpose of this issue to work through the issue of what profile size we want to use.
We could use a bigger profile and if it has a bigger hiole we can dop both belt and shaft so discuss profiles.

Scale

Currently working on the scale of the project.

With the current MORCC Core it can't really do 1/10 so a bigger scale is needed.
There can be several scales and designs being a open project.
