Add dictionary groups (languages)

Hi, thank you for a great program!
This is a feature suggestion:
Have a menu/comb-obox to allow the user to use switch between languages.
Case in point: I need to translate german and romanian, but not all at the
same time. During the mornings I only want to see german results, during
the afternoons I only want to see romanian. What should I do? The only way
to do it now is to remove all the romanian dictionaries in the morning, and
later on add them again and remove the german ones. I suggest that the user
is allowed to create 'dictionary groups', assign a dictionary to one or
more groups, and have a simple option to select which groups are active at
a given time.

that available from this site's download link, with no version shown, at
AD.2007.Oct.04.Thu.09h00.ICT

Please provide any additional information below.
Lucked out while writing this. Nautilus' right-click drop-down for the
babiloo.jar lists two versions of Sun JRE, 5.0 and 6.0. ($ls -l
/etc/alternatives/java shows 5.0 is still the default.)

Running 6.0 from nautilus works. $ps aux shows babiloo running as:
  /usr/lib/jvm/java-6-sun-1.6.0.00/bin/java -jar /home/madm/bin/babiloo.jar

That implies that command line can be used to run babiloo.jar -- which
suggests /etc/alternatives/java might be best updated, somehow.

Mac version

I've created an application and package for Mac OS X for my own comfort,
but I share it with you and the community. Is the package installer with
the Spanish<->English dictionary.
I don't know how to add new dictionaries, because it do not accept .dct
files. But with the English<->Spanish included work fine.

The program doesn't launch

What steps will reproduce the problem?

1. Double-clicking the icon

An MS-DOS console opens for less than a second, but no more outputs are
displayed. Babiloo doesn't even run. The only way to run it is opening a
MS-DOS console and typing 'java -jar babiloo.jar'. The .jar extension is
correctly assigned to the jre.

I'm running Babiloo 0.7 and jre 1.6 (updates 2 and 3) over an Intel
Quadcore Q6600.

Alguna sugerencias

Hola, tengo una pregunta y unas sugerencias.
Pregunta:
a lo que baje de este?) La idea es saber si tengo la versión actual o no;

compuestos... bue, tal vez sea mucho pedir.

3)Diccionarios específicamente fonéticos (el actual dic que estoy usando
tiene, pero no se si sigue algún standard como el IPA)

4)(esto si ya es mucho pedir; es mas que nada un pregunta si pensaron en
hacer algo similar). Text to Speech: realmente no se si java provee alguna
forma de hacerlo de manera mas o menos decente; otra opción sería en
delegar el TTS a otro soft (por ej, festival); pero en este caso, no solo
lo veo complicado si no que se restringiría a las plataformas en que el
otro software esta implementado (algo así existe en en Babilon, pero claro
e TTS lo hace Windows).

Ok, igual, excelente software (pocos tienen tan buenos ejemplos de uso del
idioma, por ejemplo). Saludos El_bot

Show the some of the first results on the fly

While I'm at it:
A great feature of some dictionaries is that they not only show a list of
results as you type, as they also show the translations or a preview of
them. It's a fantastic time and input effort saver, and what is more
precious to someone needing a translation than those two?
As it would be a great overhead to update the translations pane
continuously, I suggest one or both of:
- show the first 2-3 translations on the translation pane as you type
- make the results pane two column and show the first definition of each
entry on the 2nd column, with '...' or '+' if there are more definitions

Pronunciar vocabularios ingleses

Buenas, tengo instalado el Babiloo 0.2 y te cuento que necesito que
disponga de un pronunciador de vocablos ingleses. El programa dispone, pero
cuando uno ve, aparece letras raras o con símbolos erróneos( favor si
necesita me avisa para mostrarle algunos snapshots). He bajado también la
versión 0.7, pero no dispone de la característica que necesito.
Estoy usando W. Vista Home Premium
Favor si me puede decir que debo hacer para visualizar el texto de
pronunciación correctamente.
Gracias de antemano.
Saludos-
Angel Miranda

A version for Pocket PC

One more... this isn't a feature request but more of a call for ideas...
It would be awesome to have a tool like this for the Pocket PC. Imagine
reading a foreign book during lunch with just the fallback help of an
unobtrusive pda. You don't even need wifi since you can store the dictionry
files in it.
Unfortunately, I gather that there's no Java on the Pocket PC. It's a
shame. Does anyone have any ideas on how to get such a dictionary working,
preferably leveraging existing free software?

Feature: add/edit/(remove) dictionaries and dictionary entries in the program itself

I think it would be a great project boost if more dictionaries come
available. To realise this it should be possible to start a new dictionary,
add/edit/remove Words from the dictionary and syncronize dictionary entries
with a server.

Even a web interface to find and edit words would help.

May I ask you to add these features to the project plan?
IMHO it will be hard to get the dictionary usable for many people without
such features.

Thx,
Florian Lagg

Vietnamese Wiktionary

It appears that the Russian Wikipedia is already supported by Babiloo. It
would be wonderful if the Vietnamese Wiktionary were also supported, since
it includes many corrections to entries in Hồ Ngọc Đức's dictionaries,
plus
conjugations for many entries.
