For clarity it would be good to somehow seperate out the automated calibration and bank erosion sensitivity analysis from the core XChannel model.

To enable re-use of XChannel for other applications improved documentation of how to run the model, particularly descriptions of model inputs and outputs, is required.

It has been identified that the assumption that bend radius is much larger than the river width might represent a significant weakness in the model as many bends in natural rivers reach a radius-to-width ratio of around 3. for example in the Selwyn River cross-sections where the model has been applied to simulate bank erosion the radius-to-width ratio range between 2.65 to 5.3 for cross-section A and 3.4 to 6.8 for cross-section B.

Adding an option to remove this simplifying assumption would be relatively easy and would allow the effect of this assumption to be tested.
