divina-player-js's Introduction

divina-player-js

JS Player for Digital Visual Narratives ("divina")

Divina is a format specific to comics, manga, webtoons ... incubated at EDRLab + Readium Foundation.

This Divina player has already been integrated in Thorium Reader. It will soon be also integrated in Readium Mobile. And it will later be integrated in Readium Web as a specialized Navigator.

Instructions: the usual...

npm install

npm start

And that's all :)

divina-player-js's Issues

Webtoon demo looses alignment

If the browser window is too large in relation with the images, the player looses.

Steps to reproduce:

  1. npm run start
  2. Maximize the browser window. (My browser window is 1440x795
  3. The first panel shows part of the second.
  4. Go to next panel by clicking on the right side or use right-arrow.
  5. The second panel is slightly misaligned and you can see more of the third panel.
  6. By the fourth panel, which is much narrower than the first three panels, the alignment is way of.
  7. Going to the fifth panel, you'll only see the right side of the panel.

It doesn't seem to be a problem if the screen size is smaller than the smallest panel.

Expected behavior
I'd expect the narrower panels to be centered in the viewport as I progress through the webtoon.

Opening a manifest hosted on an HTTP server

Since the mobile navigators don't have access to the publication files anymore, we can't really use the DiViNa player like this:

// Load the divina from its folder path
player.openDivinaFromPath(divinaFoldersArray[0], targetUrl, options)

Is there a way to provide an URL (locally hosted) to a DiViNa manifest instead?
