Hi, I found this from your blog and I got really excited finally seeing a solution to how to program the DS18B20 to have an "ID' - using a limit temp as the ID.
My application is a device that uses multiple temp sensors and needs to know which one is Sensor A and which is Sensor B etc. Using an Arduino on the bench to program and label a batch of "SensorA" DS18B20 was a good solution, but I soon realized that not only would I have to use a Arduino to program the sensor but would also need one on every PI to read the limit value ( ID) on the device since the PI library only returns Serial and Temp.

Have you looked at porting your library to run on the PI? I don't mind taking a stab at it but would like your opinion before diving in.
