I tried building the environment (mamba env create -f environment.yml) today on SMSL, and got:

package rapids-22.06.00-cuda11_py38_ged167d1_108 requires cupy >=9.5.0,<11.0.0a0, but none of the providers can be installed

I should update SMSL script to 22.08 once the conda packages are ready/after the release

smsl needs a big update to RAPIDS 23.04 including a pip install option. Currently, the conda install runs out of space if more than one version of RAPIDS to be installed. PIP is a smaller install footprint and may fix that

I see the warning below when following the "Open Studio Lab" link from rapids.ai. I think we just need to add a line that installs pip into the environment. PR incoming.
