I think it's valuable to make it visible as soon as someone visits the page for the first time. This will make it less likely to be overlooked by attendees or speakers learning about the conference for the first time.
I believe this is the weakest subtitle out of the three for attracting the interest of non-student attendees/speakers. What about "Explore new fields" instead?
I'm on the fence about this - I like the idea of it, but it's not a picture from our conference, and it's not what speaking at our conference will look like (I presume!). My fear is that potential speakers (especially first-time speakers) will see that image and choose not to submit based on it. My inclination is to remove the photo and replace it with something else.
As far as I can tell, it appears to be a mashup of some of the CoC from http://bangbangcon.com/conduct.html (specifically, the recurse center social rules), and something else that I haven't identified yet. I'm worried by this; there's been a lot of thought put into existing CoCs from other places (like CUSEC's, or the Geek Feminism one), and there's text in the one at http://www.hellocon.net/#code which shows that it has not been read through carefully:
"Harassment includes offensive statement topics include but are not limited to the following topics are not allowed:"
"Inappropriate actions include but are not limited to the following topics are not allowed:"
I think we should use an existing one with the minimal amount of modification necessary, and cite it appropriately at the bottom of the document.
