What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. double clicking the LidarTools.sav file, dropping it on the IDL VM icon or
opening it through the open menu of IDL VM
What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
it gives the following error message:
"keyword BITMAP not allowed in call to: WIDGET_BASE
Execution halted at: LIDARTOOLS
IDLRTMAIN
$MAIN$ "
What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
Lidartools_2.x.x installed IDL VM on 32 bit windows 7
Please provide any additional information below.
I am new to using these tools. Can the developmental version be used by the
general user? If yes then any help in making this work would be much
appreciated.
Thanks
Bab

Hi,
I just filled in the pre-written info to describe the issue with trying to run
the BCAL tools in ENVI 5.
What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Copying lidartools_bcal.sav into ...ENVI50\ENVI50\extensions folder
2. Opening ENVI 5
What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
Seeing the BCAL folder with all its subfolders and tools in the ENVI 5 toolbox
would be expected, but I only see one tool icon named "lidartools_bcal" that
doesn't seem to do anything when I click on it.
What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
I'm using the BCAL_LiDARTools-1.4.1 version for ENVI 5 on Windows 7 Enterprise
SP1, 32-bit
Please provide any additional information below.
The other BCAL tool (LiDARTools-1.4.2) for ENVI Classic works just fine, as do
other sav files I loaded into ENVI 5

The Fugro Lidar viewer (http://www.fugroviewer.com) has a quite good and
interactive feature to visualize cross sections and profiles which is quite
useful for some exploratory data analysis and for presentations. You can simply
draw a rectangle in the Lidar overview "image" (left side), and the cross
section will be visualized on the right hand side. Do you intend to further
develop your LiDAR viewer in this direction?

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Lidar .las data file with no projection info: output of height filtering to
assign ground / non-ground
2. Run the Tools: Analysis==>Create Raster Product ==> Topographic (Bare Earth)
3. Load raster into ArcGis or similar
What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
Expected out put is raster: This does happen however the output looks as if it
is shifted downwards so that the top edge of the image is where the bottom edge
should be. Attached image demonstrates the problem
What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
2.x.x on idl virtual machine ver 8.2: Windows 7 professional

I exprect to see the BCAL LiDAR Tools.
The LiDARTools do not appear.

It worked fine with the version before (LiDARTools-1.5.3-envi4x)

I found the approach by Popescu and Zhao 2008 (A voxel-based lidar method for
estimating crown base height for deciduous and pine trees)
quite useful to analyse vegetation structure (density).
Do you have any plans to implement such a voxel tool? In my opinion, it would
nicely complement your vegetation height feature and enable the user to conduct
stratified vegetation density analysis.

After conversion of ascii xyz lidar data to las format I permormed height
filtering.
The las file obtained as output has been then used to trace elevation profiles.
The obtained profiles show coincident transects for vegetation and bare earth,
as if height filtering didn't work. I tried to apply the same procedure also to
a native las file (not coming from a xyz conversion) covering the same area and
the result obtained is what I expected to get, with two distinct lines for
vegetation top and bare earth.
I'm using BCAL Lidar tools 1.4.2 with Envi 4.8 on winXPPro.
Thanks again.

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Tiling las-files (4 return airborne lidar flightlines, up to 6gb size, only
class 1)
2. Retreiving header info
3. checking number of points, 1st returns, 2nd returns, 3rd returns, 4th returns
What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
number of points should be the sum of all returns
instead, number of points always/for all files equals 1st returns whereas 2nd
return is always/for all files is 3251850, 3rd return is 131078, and 4rth
return is 1153.
What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
Win 8 64 bit, ENVI 5.1, bcal envi extension 1.5.2
Please provide any additional information below.
If I retrieve the header information before tiling, everthing seems fine. But
the files are so large which neiter ENVI nor ArcGIS/QGIS appreciate so I would
prefer tiling. I don't want to decimate, maybe subsets are an option.

i tried to convert some xyz lidar files to .las format. Everything seems to
work fine and new files are generated quickly. But when i try to view the
result with the 3D LIDAR Viewer i get back an error message "variable is
undefined: ASCIIPARAMS" or "triangulate: not enough valid and unique points
specified".
I'm using BCAL LiDAR Tools 1.4.2 in Envi 4.8 and my PC works with Windows XP Pro
How can i get out of this? Thanx. Flavio
