docs-aws's Issues

Platform migration

@maximrozin
Hello admins,

The Information Development Team is migrating all documentation repositories published using Deconst to a new publishing platform stack.

This change is to improve functionality, build times, and longevity of the platform.

Things that won't change:

  • How you contribute to this repository
  • No downtime
  • No GitHub configuration changes

Changes to expect:

  • Build checks are now produced by netlify
  • Build previews can be accessed by clicking "Details" to the right of "netlify/path/deploy-preview"

The migration has already started and we are unable to provide the exact date that this repo is to be migrated.
If you have questions or concerns please reach out to myself or Robb Romans.

Thanks, William Loy

Need to call out OSes close to EoL and add in new

docs/service-levels/index.rst

The following OSes will be EoL soon and should be called out in the docs as such:
RHEL 6 - November 2020
CentOS 6 - November 2020
Amazon Linux (legacy) - December 2020
Ubuntu 16.04 - April 2021

We also now support Ubuntu 20.04

Logbook doc has a "temporary bastion," reference

The Logbook doc has a "temporary bastion," reference that should be removed.

https://developer.rackspace.com/docs/fanatical-support-aws/logbook/

  • Fanatical Support for AWS environment access: any time a Racker or one of your employees accesses your AWS environment by creating an access request and provisioning a temporary bastion, view the specific resources they had access to, the source of their access request, and other associated details throughout the duration of the access request

Remove references to rackspace-passport-bastion in Account Defaults

Now that Passport V2 has been released, the Account Defaults documentation needs to be updated to remove references to rackspace-passport-bastion.

  • Create an IAM role named "rackspace-passport-bastion" with an IAM policy that allows bastion logs to be written to CloudWatch Logs.

  • Create an EC2 Instance Profile named "rackspace-passport-bastion-instance-profile" with the "rackspace-passport-bastion" role attached.

  • Create a "rackspace-passport-bastion" CloudWatch Logs Group where logs are shipped for Rackspace operational purposes.

Cant install Passport CLI MacOS when using szh

Hi
We noticed that zsh is now default in the terminal on MacOS but passport works better/more stable with bash. For example I couldn't even install passport CLI with the curl command with zsh, it skips the await input on password prompt in the terminal and quits.
"curl -sL https://passport-packages.manage.rackspace.com/installer/latest | sudo sh -s"

So perhaps you could add a note to the page : https://developer.rackspace.com/docs/fanatical-support-aws/passport/installation/#linux-and-macos,
If your'e having issues, you should switch from zsh to bash in the terminal and it will probably work a lot better.

The Product Guide still mentions ScaleFT

docs/service-levels/index.rst

ScaleFT is mentioned in a couple places in the above file, though is no longer used as part of Passport or our access requirements.
