XSD2Java Gradle Plugin

The XSD2Java Gradle Plugin generates java classes from an existing XSD schema. For this it uses the existing ANT task.

Usage

Build script snippet for use in all Gradle versions:

buildscript {
    repositories {
        maven {
            url "https://plugins.gradle.org/m2/"

    }
    dependencies {
        classpath 'de.qaware.gradle.plugin:xsd2java-gradle-plugin:3.0.0'
    }
}

Build script snippet for new, incubating, plugin mechanism introduced in Gradle 2.1:

Tasks

The plugin defines the following tasks:

Task name Depends on Type Description
xsd2java - XSD2JavaTask Generates all the types as java classes from a xsd schema.

Configurations

The plugin defines the following configurations:

Configuration Name Description
xsd2java Used for dependencies that needed by the generated sources.
xsd2javaExtension Used for extensions for the XJC ANT task.

Extension Properties

The plugin defines the following extension properties in the xsd2java closure:

Property name Type Default value Description
schemas Container<Xsd2JavaTaskConfig> - Contains the configurations for every base directory with schemas.
extension Boolean - Should the ant task load extensions defined in the configuration xsd2javaExtension. Default false
arguments List<String> - A list of arguments passed to the ant task
outputDir File - The output directory for the generated sources.

Example

The following example show the full extension configuration:

Cannot configure source directory in Kotlin DSL

I am using Gradle 5.4 with Kotlin DSL (I stress it - NOT Groovy).

I tried to follow the example in the readme as close as possible to configure the source directory so here's what I've configured:

configurations {
    xsd2java {
        closureOf<XSD2JavaTask> {
            schemas {
                schemaDirPath = File("src/main/resources/schemas")
                packageName = "com.foo.bar.template.model"
            }
        }
        extension = true
        arguments = listOf("-verbose")
    }

But every time I execute the xsd2javaClasses task all I see in the console is:

03:45:49: Executing task 'xsd2javaClasses'...

> Task :compileXsd2javaJava NO-SOURCE
> Task :processXsd2javaResources NO-SOURCE
> Task :xsd2javaClasses UP-TO-DATE

BUILD SUCCESSFUL in 0s

And needless to say, no generated Java classes in the package name I configured. What am I configuring wrong?

Gradle 7.0 issue - compileConfigurationName no longer supported

compileConfigurationName was deprecated in Gradle 6. Now it is gone. I think it should be replaced by compileClasspathConfigurationName.

Gradle 8 warning - xsd2javaCompileClasspath deprecated

When I compile my project with Gradle 7.5.1, I receive the following warning:

The xsd2javaCompileClasspath configuration has been deprecated for dependency declaration. This will fail with an error in Gradle 8.0. Please use the xsd2javaImplementation or xsd2javaCompileOnly configuration instead. Consult the upgrading guide for further information: https://docs.gradle.org/7.5.1/userguide/upgrading_version_5.html#dependencies_should_no_longer_be_declared_using_the_compile_and_runtime_configurations

It would be great to address the issue before it gets deprecated with the next major release.

fluent-api issue: unrecognized parameter -Xfluent-api

Hi,
I would like to report a problem.
After upgrade from version 1.0.0 to 2.0.0, following configuration:
