Selecting UK as a destination, <= 12 countries aggregation + "hide investment s below $ 1 B" comes a difficult result to read because the flow is partly hidden at the top. The same happens in other cases. In addition, the destination node disappears.

https://offshoreatlas.publicdatalab.org/ - seems not to want to scroll on Chrome (112 - including in incognito, with fresh profile, with no extensions). It used to work on Chrome and still works on other browsers. Adding this issue in case others also can't access / this is a browser compatibility problem...

is it possible for the “guide” bar to be open all of the time by default when the info bar for a particular country or investment position isn’t open?

I think we can actually get rid of “Nominal GDP in Mill. USD, 2015” – it’s enough just to include total outward FDI stock and FDI as a percent of GDP. This will help to make the selected country info bar a bit shorter.

Change to: Total Outward FDI Stock as % of GDP

Change to: Financial Secrecy Score, 2018 (TJN FSI)

Change to: Corporate Tax Haven Score, 2019 (TJN CTHI)

Change to: Total Ultimate Investor Uncertainty Index for investment in destination from selected country … this should I guess also go at the very end of the country info bar

Change to: Officially reported FDI stock (2015) entering destination directly from selected country

Change to: Estimated FDI in destination ultimately originating** from selected country

Add: *(Total ultimate investor uncertainty index entry in box) 1 – (summed 25 percentile estimates of FDI entering destination via selected country from all sources) / (summed 75 percentile estimates of FDI entering destination via selected country from all sources)

Add: **(note for estimated FDI entry in box) Median estimated 2015 FDI stock from selected country in destination, excluding conduit investment and corporate inversions

The “Number of investments” at the top can actually be removed (isn’t really necessary)

“Investment value (75% confidence band)” should be “Estimated investment value (75% confidence band)”

“ Click on ALL FLOWS to get additional information about them.” – I would change this to “Click on Investments for additional information”

“ Select one or more Countries in the CONDUITS filter to see specific exchanges of FDI.” – I would change this to ““ Select one or more Countries in the CONDUITS filter to see FDI passing through them.”

would take “fog of finance” out of the title here for the purposes of this particular resource – I like the way this sounds, but the official title of the website needs to match the title in the funding that ICTD has approved, since they will be hosting this. The official title needs to sound slightly “boring” for the sake of audiences in various international organizations, etc.- it is the visualization platform itself that is the cool and fun part.
