cedarish's Issues

create a x86_32bit image

I`ve been working on creating a fork for installing dokku on 32bit hosts. So far I have succeeded by building everything from scratch (see dokku/dokku#1090 (comment)).

In order to ease up the process, it would be great to also provide 32bit images for cedarish since it is the base image for docker containers used by dokku.

I have created ubuntu-debootstrap images for i386 here https://registry.hub.docker.com/u/patrickjahns/ubuntu-debootstrap/ which can be used for the base for creating cedarish.

The images will be later published via https://registry.hub.docker.com/repos/32bit/ once we set it up correctly. Will post updates

In relation to that, what would be the best way to create a namingspace for 32bit cedarish images?
progrium/cedarish_x86_32 ? or something different?

Tag the image on Docker index

Hey there,

I'm currently using cedarish as the base image for one of my images and because the only tag available right now is latest it is pretty hard to have 100% reproducible builds since things might change when new cedarish images get built.

Would it be possible for you to create a tag? I don't need anything fancy, something like a timestamp of the build date would do the trick :-)

Thanks in advance!

getting Ubuntu security updates?

Hello, I really opologize if I missed something and if that's a dumb question but how distro security updates are supposed to make it into Cedarish and possibly downstream images such as Buildstep or even Buildstep derived images. Think about the recent the openssl issue for instance.

Ok, the host can have automatic security updates and we are advised to rebuild our images when security updates comes into the base Ubuntu image for instance. But how can we proceed if we base our image on cedarish or even on buildstep? Rebuilding just our application doesn't get the upstream distro fixes right? Neither just pulling Ubuntu base image will fix our application images, right? It's also advised not to upgrade the distro in downstream layers, right?

So sorry if this is a naive question, but shouldn't we set a system so that cedarish or buildstep are rebuild on a regular basis (last cedarish on Docker Hub is from February 16th) or when Ubuntu base images provide security updates?

Thanks for any enlightment and kudos fo the amazing work.

Replace ubuntu-debootstrap with docker-alpine?

Not sure about the feasibility since the goal of this project is to emulate the cedar stack, but right now the average node container is over 1GB. I'd love to see ubuntu replaced with docker-alpine to reduce the container size.

Multi platform support?

Hi,

are you interested in my changes for multi OS support? I started to work on a fork because i want to build dokku and buldstep on multiple platforms without the limitation to ubuntu which don't really like :)
