random crashes about edizon-overlay

If it's not in Edizon only that unhiding crashes overlay randomly, it can be debugged. I will try to see if I can replicate that in other overlays when I will be back in home.

It’s only happening when docked. Almost every time i open an overlay the console fatals.

Same issue as #10. Make sure your cheat file is using the correct brackets. Use square brackets '[]' instead of curly brackets '{}' specifically on the master code in your cheat file.

Came here to comment that I am having the same issue with Pokemon violet. It will crash randomly when some cheats are enabled. Sometimes it will crash immediately when I try to open tesla overlay.

For everyone having the issue, please post your cheat files here along with the game and game version, as well as making sure you are using version 1.0.4 of edizon-overlay and using the included ovlmenu.ovl if you are on hos 16.0.0.

Let me explain. I am using same cheat sheet as @mayt04 have.
get copy of Pokemon Violet and update the game to latest version.
enable shiny no lag and 6IV
then enable one of pokemon encounter.
run around in the game.
then open tesla overlay to switch to different pokemon encounter spawns
keep switching pokemon spawning.
keep doing this till it crashes.

It will take few switching of pokemon to crash tesla overlay. sometimes, I have better luck to switch to 10 different pokemon spawning. other time, opening it and it just crash....

This is my cheat sheet, slightly different from them but what I use is 16x shiny, item does not decrease and 100% fast capture.

Same scenario as ELY3M, usually it does not crash instantly but will crash after prolonged usage. I can enable the cheats and start going around to play as usual. It will only crash when attempting to open edizon via tesla overlay when it happens.

Scenario is:
Start up game
Open Tesla Overlay
Select EdiZon
Enable cheat
Play as usual
---- after awhile
Open Tesla Overlay
Select EdiZon (Instantly disappear)
Crash screen appears around 1 second later

Pokemon Violet 1.2.0 with hos 16.0.0

I think opening and closing tesla overlay repeatlly.... is what cause crashing. something to do with session exhaustion or memory.

I even setup a macro to open and close the menu and enable and disable 1 cheat continuously and it still doesn't crash so it has to be a combination of what the game is doing and opening the overlay at the same time.

There are more probability that the crash happens if you open tesla overlay on an online circle even if you dont have any cheats enabled..

I also noticed that if you try to open poke portal and noticed some kind of slowness, it is guarantee to crash when you open edizon via Tesla overlay

I was online in union circle with someone catching ruins Pokemon, he was able to catch all of ruins Pokemon.
it crashed after I switched to 5th Pokemon that he wanted to catch.

It look like I resolved my tesla crashing issue by updating my atmosphere fork and building atmosphere. I saw that SciresM did fixed some memory and session stuff.

That's exactly why it's not recommended to update until a final release is made. Glad it is fixed. It looks like it only happens on physically intensive games that rack up memory and session counts. The only games I was able to get it to crash on were pokemon violet/scarlet. I will leave this open until atmosphere is no longer pre-release and the fix is pushed.

I had it happened while playing octopath traveller 2 as well after using atmosphere 1.5.1.

In Pokemon it still crashes the same as before, turn on some cheat and run around, once menu started to slowdown it will 100% crash when trying to open edizon.

crashes do happen very often in animal crossing too. I had to stop using tesla in animal crossing and use acnhpoker instead.
I will test again and collect logs.

I think that's not to bug with edizon overlay... in Tesla there are many many issue with no respond from developer and totally broke on dock mode for example.

I just pushed an update to fix crashes in docked mode. The font system bug is still present. Let me know how crashes are going with official build v1.0.5. Before posting though, please make sure you are on the latest official build of atmosphere, tesla menu, and edizon-overlay.

He edited his post to say that it didn't help. This is still being worked on and is top priority right now.

Curious enough, it's not data abort like in previous cases, but instruction/prefetch abort - which sounds like issue with memory corruption.

Yup, this is not how bug which I fixed works. You are only hiding overlay while patched bug happens only on exiting overlay.

you don't even need to enable any cheat. Just open Edizon, close Edizon, and so on. If no crash 0x4A8 happens in like let's say 50 times of opening/closing in handheld and docked mode, then bug related to my PR is fixed.

If this is a bug with Edizon specifically, then we don't know what's causing it. Maybe running in background too long is an issue for it? It doesn't help the fact that it requires dmnt:cht to work, so GDB cannot be used to debug it. :D I guess dev could try to block dmnt:cht use, and fake enabling/disabling cheats to check if crash will still occur. Then it could be debugged.

I figured out why I am crashing. It was from that I hide and unhide the overlay.... I have to fully exit the overlay after switching cheats. you press on touch screen to hide overlay..... and press buttons to unhide it.
no crashes if I exit fully every time I change cheats by pressing B till overlay close.

Cheats are pulled from dmnt:cht service so I would have to make fake menus to test that. Here is the build that should allow GDB if the only thing it is looping on is the dmnt:cht service.

I've just recompiled ovlmenu and ovlsysmodules with latest libnx (from master not dkp) and latest libtesla and am still getting fatals when opening overlays from ovlmenu while docked. Im unsure what I'm doing wrong. My discord is FennecTECH#4926 if you'd like to take this somewhere else as it seems unrelated to the issue you guys are troubleshooting here.

I'm having an EXACT SAME PROBLEM and still haven't solved the issue
I tried opening EdiZon on a game that has no Cheat and it still crashes
sometimes it doesn't crash, but more often than not, it crashes.

For everyone else:

If you are crashing when opening and closing the menu, please back out all the way to close it. This is a known bug and is currently being worked on!

Version 1.0.7 should fix the known crashing issues and mismatched cheats bug on hiding and showing the overlay without backing all the way out of the overlay. I am going to close this issue now and if any more crashing issues occur outside of what is now fixed, another issue can be opened up.
