## These terraform modules provide basic infrastructure in [AWS](https://aws.amazon.com) environment.

## VPC (Virtual Private Cloud)
#### "VPC enables you to launch AWS resources into a virtual network"

### VPC
- Creation of VPC
- Enable DNS hostnames
- Enable DNS support
### Subnet
- Creation of public subnets
- Creation of public subnet route table
- Assocation of subnets to route tables
### Internet Gateway
- Creation of internet gateway
- Association of internet gateway with vpc

## EKS (Elastic Kubernetes Service)
#### "EKS  is managed kubernetes service from the Amazon Web Services (AWS) cloud"

### EKS Cluster
- Creation of EKS cluser (master node)
- Creation of IAM roles as required.
- Creation for security groups for cluster.

### Worker nodes for EKS
- Creation of worker nodes as required by using tfvars.
- Creartion of IAM roles and node policies as required.
- Creation of security groups for workernodes.
- Configuring outputs with config map and KUBECONFIG.

### Launch Configurations
- Creation of a Launch Configuration template
- Took the EKS optimized AMI ID using data module.
- Specify instance type
- Adding user data file to execute at initial launch of instance/server
### Autoscaling Groups
- Creation of Autoscaling Group
- Association of launch configuration template
- Specify desired capacity of servers need to be available
- Association of availability zones or association of subnets to specify availability zones
- Specify maximum size of scaling capacity
- Specify minimum size of scaling capacity
### RDS
- Creation of DB instance with required specifications.
- Added existing subnets to the DB instance.
- Creation of RDS security groups along with ingress and egress rules.

### Bastion server
- Creation of bastion server in same VPC.
- Creation of security groups along with ingress and egress rules.

**NOTE**: Using the resource `tags` functionality we can audit, track and manage resources.

##### The outputs displayed after Terraform Apply can be exported to a `.yaml` format by using command: 
```bash
terraform output config_map_aws_auth > config_map_aws_auth.yaml
```
##### After connecting to the EKS cluster, apply this above config file to attach worker nodes to EKS cluster.
```bash
aws eks update-kubeconfig --name nameofthecluster
kubectl apply -f  config_map_aws_auth.yaml
```
