meltdown's Issues

Add font selection

From Paul Dykoun - add the ability to change fonts and their size, as well as left and right justification.

Ability to view items in a single feed

From Andreas Streim, this feature request:

I have some groups like tech with multiple feeds like a, b and c. In
Meltdown I can chose to view tech and can read new items from a, b and c.
But I cant chose to view just a and read new items from only a.

Could you add that feature like in the web view?

Use Retrofit

Hi,
it is good application ... what about using retrofit?

Updates quit working after running for a long time

The bug: Network shows up, but updates fetch no data. Manually running update completes too fast.

Diagnosis:

  • 'adb logcat | grep Meltdown' shows this:
    I/MeltdownDownloader(32481): Version 0.9.3 build 64 beginning update...
    I/MeltdownDownloader(32481): Getting groups...
    D/MeltdownRestClient(32481): https://www.phfactor.net/fever/?api&groups
E/MeltdownRestClient(32481): IO error on transfer: Hostname 'www.phfactor.net' was not verified

Which makes no sense. I suspect a leaking resource.

HTTPS with self-signed SSL cert doesn't work

I'm using Fever on https://kopis.de/fever and my SSL cert isn't accepted by Google Chrome, so I see the red warning every time I open the page.

Looks like this is causing problems with Meltdown, because I can't use HTTPS when I set up my server. I know that there is a way to ignore the warning because Apps like CalDAV sync can use my HTTPS host.

option for "sync sparks"

one of the last updates in android market removed the option to enable / disable syncing of sparks. with currently about 18000 unread sparks-items this made Meltdown unusable for me. at startup the app hangs a very long time while reading the cache...

will you accept a pull request if I reenable this feature?

Meltdown is the No 1 data consumer on my phone

The data usage report shows Meltdown at the top on my phone. I think that's because of the 15min update interval. I'd like to have that configurable.

Right now I disable background data usage for meltdown to avoid this.

Swipe down past the article to go to the next one

Would it be possible to have some kind of gesture to go to the next article, like in Reeder?

It would be cool to scroll down to the end of the article, and have a little spring-like resistance at the end. If you push past this (~100px), the next article shows up, and the previous is marked as read.

Offline reading

From Eike Benedikt Lotz -

For offline reading I thought about something like Newsrob does. You
can select wheter to download the RSS article or the mobilized webpage
of the article in a certain feed. Than you can tell Newsrob to
download content every hour, two hours etc. Set it to download
automatically only when using a WiFi network.
This feature is pretty handy when you are in EDGE-land and don't want
to wait 30 seconds until an article loads.

Feature request: Mark as read/unread swipe gestures and "Hot"-articles?

Hi!
Thanks for providing an Android app for Fever. As Google Reader is shutting down, I expect this app to gain popularity soon :-)

Anyways, I got two questions:

  1. Could you add swipe gestures for marking unread items as read and read items as unread?
  2. I think it would be awesome if Fever's Hot-channel would also sync as this is an awesome feature of Fever that should be included IMO.

Thank you!

Preference for always-zoomed-out

Marcus asks -

"Would it we possible to add a feature to Meltdown that shrinks every entry
to fit the screen be default? Right now you have to press the shrink button
on every new entry you're currently reading. Would help the usability I
think."

Quite do-able. Adding here so I don't forget.

'Login error, please correct data' error when attempting to log in with correct information?

I'm unsure whether it can't connect for some reason, or whether it's failing to parse the URL, due to the error it's giving. I am reasonably sure I've given it the correct information, however.

URL is: www.feldherren.[host].com/fever
(Host removed for some limited attempt at privacy.)
I'm very certain I'll have entered the correct information at least once, between all attempts, so presumably something else is wrong here.

Updates stop

This is similar to a previous bug, but seems to have a new cause. The SSL cert gets cached by Android, and is incorrect for reasons I am trying to determine. Here's a logcat dump:

Feature request: refresh interval

Hi!
Sorry, I just thought about another feature that I'd really like to see in this great app:
I think it would be awesome to have some more options on the refresh interval. As in some email clients I think it would be great to be able define two different time modes: a daytime mode and a nighttime mode. Each mode would get its own refresh intervals. With that, one could sync very often during the day (like every 15 minutes) and only rarely during the night (like never to every couple of hours) which would save battery life in the end.
So for this we would need an option to define the period of the daytime mode (the night mode would simply be the remaining hours of the day), for example that we could set daytime mode from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. Additionally, we would need an option to set the refresh interval for day mode and night mode seperately.

I believe that this would be a great addition to this app which aims at being a fast, energy saving app without frills.
