statusfy's Issues

Menubar icon instead of text

Most menubar applications have a small icon to represent their status (for space reasons), rather than a string of text, so it'd be awesome if this app did, too :) The "title - artist" string could appear on click instead.

Statusfy is bleeding memory on OS X 10.10 Yosemite

Screenshot taken 20 minutes after launching Statusfy on OS X 10.10 Yosemite.
Before updating to 10.10 this was not an issue.

I left my work laptop open, with Spotify not playing and over night Statusfy ate 26 GB of RAM.

Option to Launch Spotify

I usually tend to change the song if I don't like it. After checking what is playing with Statusfy, I wanted to skip the song but I had to go ahead and launch Spotify from my dock. I think it would be nice to have an option to launch Spotify easily from Statusfy.

Won't Launch

When I attempt to launch the app, nothing happens. No error message of any kind.

macOS High Sierra v10.13.6 (17G65)
Statusfy v1.4
Spotify v1.0.86.337.ga8d5cef9

Spotify 100% CPU Usage

I fully realize this is probably not a Statusfy issue proper, but just in case: Spotify seems to regularly start eating up a full CPU core when I have Statusfy running. It doesn't happen all the time, and I haven't been able to nail down a reproducible set of steps; however, it doesn't seem to happen when I'm not using Statusfy.

As I said, I suspect it is an implementation issue within Spotify itself, but I thought I'd mention it here in case anyone had ideas.

Thanks for your work on Statusfy! :-D

Status bar freezes when Mac is put to sleep

When Mac is re-awaken from sleep mode, the spinning wheel of death is present when hovering on the status bar. When i try to quit and restart this widget, it will not open the application. The workaround is to restart the computer.

Fix dock icon

I think I may have set the dock indicator to not be shown - this is a pretty poor experience if the icon is kept in the dock.

Ideally there would be a preference to show/hide the icon in the dock, but some improvements should be made before that to avoid unnecessary complexity.

Mojave update

@paulyoung
Hi, Just wondering if you plan to update for the new Mojave OS as Statusfy seems to have stoped working. Great app btw! ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป

Track names don't consistently appear

Starting with about Spotify 1.1.8.439.g8502297d, track names don't always appear. The only thing visible in the menu bar for Statusfy is the dash that would be between the artist and track name. If you turn the Player State option on, Statusfy shows that Spotify is playing but the track information is still not displayed. This is intermittent and hard to determine the exact steps for reproduction. Hiding or showing the dock icon seems to have no effect.

Truncating long text

The OS X status bar isn't the greatest when it comes to having a lot of stuff there. If an element of it is too long to be visible, that and all the subsequent elements will be hidden. Obviously, this isn't the easiest thing in the world to fix, so my suggestion is being able to truncate long text in Statusfy. This would at least limit the impact of the problem if you pretty much always can see at least 40 characters or whatever.

add control buttons

I'd like to control spotify from status bar :

  • pause
  • resume
  • next song
  • previous song

Feature request: Change display format

Fundamentally, I just want to be able to show "track - album" instead of "track - artist". I think it would be nice to be able to give a format string to Statusfy and have it replace preset tokens with the corresponding data, but that might take a lot of work. If you can hack something quick and dirty together though as just an alternative display option, that'd be great too.

I'm a recent convert to MacOS, and I don't know anything about XCode yet. But if you don't feel like putting this in, I'll look into patching it in and submitting a PR myself at some point in the (distant) future.

Issue with long track names

If the track name is too long, and there isn't enough space, nothing displays at all.
An easy way to fix this would be to have a auto-scrolling view for the track name.
