When we had 4 people in our meeting, everyone's screen took up 1/4 of the screen and it looked great. A 5th person with video turned off joined and now the screen is divided into 6 with 2 black boxes (one is completely empty and the other has the non-video particpant's name). If non-video participants were excluded it would be a better use of screen space.

I'm going to try to put a PR in for this, have worked on a few chrome extensions in the past. Any pointers on where to start would be appreciated. Thanks a lot for putting this repo together, I plan on sharing with a bunch of family and friends.

The screen flickers a lot.

I'm not a Hangouts user normally; this was my first time and I immediately used it with your extension(thanks for the work!) so if Hangouts normally flickers without the extension even, I wouldn't know. Feel free to tell me that's the case and close this issue.

Im aware this is rough, but thought I'd give you some feedback.
1 thing though, 1 tested with 3 callers and in the 4th section was the video of the person speaking (which is the background), is there anyway to just have a black background?

Love it though.

When the attendee the camera turned off her/his avatar is not shown (there is a black box).

Should be:

• Avatar is shown
  or
• The black box is not show - only people with the camera turned on are displayed in grid view

Maybe there are some other options?

Attendee that is currently speaking is grayed out while other attendees are colored.

Should be:

• color should stay the same when someone is speaking

Maybe there should be some different indicator that will show who is speaking now.

I agree that there is a problem with the current speaker in the background. It is shown even all attendees are shown in a grid layout. It should be hidden when the extension is enabled
