kumoworks's Issues

Buinary update, pleeeaaase!

Hello, developers.

This is a wonderful app and I'm really happy to at last have an easy way of rendering realistic clouds. I refer to this bug which was happily fixed: #6 which I consider critical.

The problem is that I'm not into compiling stuff at all and I'm not sure I'll be able to set up the building environment coreclty. Besides, I just don't need all these apps in my everyday PC life (like Visual Studio Express 2015 for Windows Desktop, CMake, Qt 5.9.2, Anaconda, Inno Setup) and therefore I see no reason in littering my HDD with programmer-specific software.

So... You would make me (and perhaps lamers like me:) a bit happier if you would publish a new binary in your release section. Thank you and keep up the good work.

Crash on deleting the last cloud layer

Posted by Rodney in OpenToonz Users Forum

Issue Summary

Rodney commented:

If there is only one Cloud Layer (say we create many but then remove all but one) and then delete the only remaining cloud layer... Kumoworks will crash.

Jane commented

I can't delete the only remaining cloud layer, so I don't get a crash (macOS).
On the UI side, changes to the workspace don't save. Also, the delete button (for the cloud layers) is hidden (at least with the default window size).

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Open KumoWorks
  2. Draw a shape which reaches across the document borders
  3. Press Enter --> Crash

Expected Results

Can KumoWorks be used for commercial projects?

I'm writing here because I'm sure many other people have the same question and it's not clearly stated anywhere yet:

Can KumoWorks be used for commercial projects?

I tried to read Terms of Use but it's really hard to understand exactly what they mean and they do not contain the words "commercial", "free" or "cost". It only declares that one should not use the software for e.g. "criminal acts" but it says nowhere if commercial is is either allowed or forbidden.
For OpenToonz it is clearly stated on the website "OpenToonz can be used free of charge for both commercial and non-commercial projects." but I couldn't find this information about KumoWorks.

Could you please clarify that? Thank you!

Feature Request: Non-Realistic Light Control (or Layer Transform)

As a Game Developer I'd love Kumo Works for lighting the clouds from all directions to generate lightmaps. Unfortunately it's for example very hard to get a good orthogonal light from BELOW.

Here is an example scene how I'd do the setup in Houdini: https://imgur.com/F0JsX1N
Very simple: One cloud and then different lightsources from left, right, up and down.

In Kumo, it's very easy to get amazing light from up (https://imgur.com/UjOCdZU) or the side (https://imgur.com/0hubcXJ) but I'm really struggling to get light from below. I only get either light from behind (https://imgur.com/W7NOw1g) or this weird thing (https://imgur.com/aM2KNzb).

A workaround would be, if I could just flip the generated cloud along the horizontal axis. Then I could let the light form from above, flip the cloud , render it and flip it again in Photoshop.

Have a very nice day!

"Render each cloud" option only renders the first cloud layer

Posted by Jane in OpenToonz Users Forum

Issue Summary

Jane commented:

Rendering combined images works fine. When trying to render each cloud as its own image, only the first cloud renders.

Rodney commented:

Using the render option 'Each Cloud in it's own Image' doesn't appear to render more than one cloud/layer
It may be that all Cloud/layers are rendering but rendering over the top of the previously rendered image.
What is odd about this is that I know I've had Kumoworks render clouds out separately before...

Momotron2000 commented:

Just imported a reference image from the internet and draw clouds over it in different layers. After rendering somehow, only the BG and one cloud appeared in my folder. The other single clouds are rough drawings in the folder above. I attached some screenshots. Hope it's helpful.
