register-sources-dk's Introduction

Register Sources DK

Register Sources DK is a shared library for the OpenOwnership Register project. It is designed for use with the beneficial ownership data in the Central Business Register published by the Danish Business Authority in Denmark

The primary purposes of this library are:

  • Providing typed objects for the JSON-line data. It makes use of the dry-types and dry-struct gems to specify the different object types allowed in the data returned.
  • Persisting the DK records using Elasticsearch. This functionality includes creating a mapping for indexing the possible fields observed as well as functions for storage and retrieval.

Installation

Install and boot Register.

Configure your environment using the example file:

cp .env.example .env

Testing

Run the tests:

docker compose run sources-dk test

register-sources-dk's Issues

repo branch name standardisation

Without commenting on the broader debate of branch naming, 11 register repos use main as the main/master/latest branch, and 4 register repos use master as the main/master/latest branch.

I propose we standardise everything, and change this repo's main/master branch to main.

This will require co-ordination with CircleCI and Heroku configuration.

Missing records - are companies with a foreign BO being ingested?

All person statements in our Denmark mapping have a CVR number associated as a persons ID. This seems odd as only Danish nationals would have a CVR number - foreign owners need to register using a passport or similar.

I have found several examples of companies that I believe have foreign owners (based on PSC data/addresses/names/google listings). These companies are not listed in our Danish mapping and are not showing on the register).

More investigation is needed of the source data to confirm this suspicion.
