A feature I really appreciate of the Windows Explorer is that it is possible to disable the expanding of the open folder in the Navigation Pane. I often use the Navigation Pane as a list of shortcuts to my Quick access folders and top-level directories, and when drilling far down into folders, it becomes difficult to navigate the Navigation Pane to fine those shortcuts.

in case a folder in a network attached driver is open in the Explorer, the changes in folders (renaming of a file, creation of new file, deletion of a file...) are not actualized in the Explorer. A person must enter in the folder and make manual refresh. I am using the program in content layout.
When the folder is in a local drive everything is ok.

The bug occurs like in picture. Every time I switch to any window of FE, a new preview of FE's-Options is added to the Alt-Tab carousel. These previews persist after closing all FE's windows and processes (the previews become picture-less, but are not deleted).
Restarting Explorer.exe resets/redraws the Alt-Tab carousel.

I change location defaults folders: Music, Downloads, Documents etc
But FileExplorer try to find them on old location - C:\Users...

This might be an odd request, as I've never actually seen it done in a file explorer. But I would love to see a mode where the main file explorer pane was a combination of the existing method of navigation, as well as a tree-view type explorer.

What I mean by that is: You would still navigate folders by double-clicking, which would open that folder, setting the current working directory. But then once that directory is open you would also be able to expand child folders of that directory in a tree-like manner.

The current problems with the navigation pane are that you can only see directories, no files. And when you drill very far down the tree becomes very unruly. A combination of the two styles would solve those issues.

A feature like this might be a big ask, but I absolutely love what has been done with this FileExplorer so far, and would love to see it be capable of this.

Please add an option to follow the OS theme.

this situation is little bit ridiculous, but I encountered it anyway. So if I change a txt file to pdf file and try to see the preview of the file the program issues an error, which is ok. However, after that, preview of the pfd files does not work anymore even with real pdf files. Once the program is restarted the plugin works again correctly. The error which the program issues is:

Hi! I'd like to suggest a little thing I'd really like to see: the ability to always display the same icon in the task bar, regardless of the folder currently open in FileExplorer.

I ask this because Quick Access, My Computer, and many more system folders override the yellow folder icon, which is what I look for when I want to use FileExplorer.

Definitely not a big issue, but it would be a nice touch!

When I browse a network disk (SMB) at work, the delete options permanently deletes without using the recycle bin. Is this a bug?

Great app so far, just a couple of questions about applying layout.

1. When I create and save a layout for a folder, it's applied to every other folder and drive. When I load default layout it works fine until I navigate to the folder with custom layout, it's applied to every other folder automatically again. Looks like a bug to me.

2. Could you make unified sorting a part of layout instead of system-wide setting? That would greatly improve usability.

3. I haven't found a way to access Recycle Bin. Windows Explorer options with shell from google articles didn't help. Could you maybe add it to Quick Launch section?

• I'm just mad with MDY format (USA), it's illogic and confusing 😕, please let me use DMY and/or YMD (standards used pretty much everywhere outside USA 😊)
• 24h format is just a nice-to-have, I can live without it

I've added a network drive and mounted it as Z:
The drive is not listed in 'FileExplorer' and cannot be accessed via direct path. If trying to do so a nullref. exception occours:

Can you add an option to Disable Auto-Arrange? (adding option of Manual Arranging / Free Sorting...)

It looks very similar to Windows Explorer; is there a way to make Auto-Arrange Disable scripts work with this file manager? (they work from Win7 to Win10 v1607 Explorer).

I noticed that when the program is started in a content view, the deleting, renaming of files and folder, creating of new folders and files are grayed. Once a folder is entered, double click on it, all these functions are enabled.

the program shows old files which are not present in the windows file explorer. The files probably were created during the download of the original files.

My sincere apologies if this has been asked before, or if the source code is available somewhere I haven't looked before! Additionally; I am aware that this is not really an issue per-say but I honestly didn't know where else I could ask this question. Besides, I reckon that I am not the only person wondering this very same question; especially after seeing the virtually empty repository.

Can I use this app on Windows 7?

In order to reduce the number of clicks needed to access a often used folder, it would be nice to be able to customize the default location when opening a new window, beyond the two current choices (Quick Access and Computer).

We would still be able to access any other folder of Quick Acess list within the same number of clicks, using the Quick Access section of the Navigation Pane.

I have a company VPN that connects to network drives. On initial boot, my mapped network drives are not available because I need to separately log in to my VPN.

After login, my network drives have icons that reflect being offline until you click them and Windows Explorer recognizes that they really are available now.

However, with FileExplorer, these simply are hidden from the sidebar and there is no way to get FileExplorer to recognize they exist until you separately navigate to them from Windows Explorer.

I'm referring to Win shortcuts created inside Windows Explorer, by using contextual menu or Ctrl+Shift+Drag'n'drop

I'd like to permanently remove or hide many default items from Quick Access (because I use different folders, so Quick Access shows me empty folders).

In Win Explorer I did it, but I guess FileExplorer has its own Quick Access list, which I'm not finding a way to edit.

I would like to give you some suggestion for the programs. I am using the program in content view and all suggestions apply only for that mode:

• inline renaming
• multiple file/folder select within different folders
• 2 or 3 additional vertical panes. I am using a 32 inch screen and there is a lot of space which is not used when the preview pane is disabled
• fast filtering. I saw that there is a filtering but it takes a lot of time to make that filtering. Sometimes I just want to find the file faster by typing 2-3 letters. The other options is jump to a file/folder like in the windows explorer
• possibility to add extensions to the extensions list in the preview extensions. As example, in the text file extension preview additional files can be added like csv, reg ro some other types
• folder creation. Currently when I right click on one folder and want to make a folder inside that folder it does not work. The program creates the folder in the main folder in which it is. As example if I am in D:\ and right click on D:\New Folder to create a New Folder 2 the program will crate the folder in D:.
• options the quick access to be always expanded
• shortcuts for fast up one level. As example if I have expanded one folder and it has a lot of files and I am somewhere in the middle, it will be good if I can go back to the expanded folder faster with one key or mouse gesture.

If you find some of the suggestions useful I will be happy. If you find the suggestions pointless you can close the ticket.

The most important I'm thinking about are:

• New tab
• Clone current tab
• New folder
• Undo closing recent tab (Recursive. Aka can be done multiple time)
  Probably some other that I'm not thinking about.

I've been using your software for a couple of hours and that tree view is really helping me organize my projects folders, thanks a lot for that!

I've noticed when i rename a file to the same name but in a different case, for example "my file" to "my File" (with an upper case "F") that line instead of just updating it also duplicates, and even if i refresh that doesn't change much, so i have to restart the program.

double clicking on the divider line (indicated by the vertical dots) maximizes the folder-tree-view.

the divider line "seems" to disappear, but you can drag the divider back from the right window edge to the center.

maximizing the folder-view (moving the divider line all to the left) leaves the divider still visible

This is a great application.

But there's an annoying behavior for me. When I press down arror key through the left pane, I expect it will go to the next sibling file/folder. But it will navigate to the next sibling folder and expand it. In this situation, it will make me to press hundreds of down arrow key to arrive at the destination that I want.

Is there an option that I can configure to navigate to the next sibling without expanding it?

The same behavior goes to the up arrow key.

the tree view is always expanded to the current active folder.
if clicking on the collapse icon to any of the parent folders of the current active folder, the collapsing does not work, instead the folder is changed to the folder you wanted to collapse

On Windows 10 doing ctrl+c and then ctrl-v does nothing, but I think it should?

Currently there's a minimum size for FileExplorer windows:

• 1099px in width
• 618px in height

I'd like to make smaller windows. (I'm on Win11 Pro - v10.0.22621)

It would be nice to have an option to sort files and folder all together, without having folders first and files after.

It's been few days FileExplorer was no longer showing up. Version 2.0 and updating today to 2.1 made no difference.

I had 2 user.config files saved under :

• "C:\Users******\AppData\Local\FileExplorer\FileExplorer.exe_Url_mkes4jrtz0ikzi0mkcsuqhfyivv1nz54\1.0.0.0\user.config"
• "C:\Users******\AppData\Local\FileExplorer\FileExplorer.exe_Url_1alekd13nw2gtnqezfj3rrdmsypqw4lb\1.0.0.0\user.config"

and deleting those user config files made FileExplorer work again.

Digging more into those files, I found something that looks just like a guilty parameter :

I had previously a 4k monitor attached, but -25k seems a little bit extreme.

Is it possible to use this as the default explorer over the windows one? I think Explorer++ has this feature. Great work by the way, this is exactly what I was looking for

1. When I try to integrate FileExplorer with search programs (like Listary or Fluent Search), the program opens to a blank screen. I use the executable file path and add %1 argument. Here's how it looks
   

Also memory usage is pretty high at 300mb+ with just 1 tab opened.
