odysee-android-floss's Issues

Gesture Navigation Android 14

After updating Pixel 7, the odysee-0.0.83 version (installed via apk from releases page), seems to be behaving oddly. With very few exceptions, the back gesture to exit does not function at all. Randomly the back gesture will work within the app, but not usually. For instance, once in the app, navigating to the Rewards page, then gesturing back will be non responsive. You have to swipe up from bottom to return home, then exit the app from the recent apps page. Similarly, even if you do happen to get back from another page, the main interface with list of videos, no amount of swiping back will exit the app.

Obviously, I am not sure if this is specific to the app, or somehow related to Android 14. Though I can say that none of my other apps are experiencing this behavior. I have also tried uninstalling and reinstalling the app, but sadly this also leads to other issues.

Some videos/channels will play, some will not.

As it says in the title. A large number of videos will not play, mostly from particular channels (if one video on a channel will not play, it is likely that no videos from the channel will). The error that appears is "No compatible source was found for this media." The non-FLOSS version of the app will play all videos without issue. This is found on Android 10, on versions 0.0.51 through 0.0.54.

Turning Bluetooth speaker on/off exits the app

The Issue

When I'm playing Odysee video, and I turn on a Bluetooth speaker, or I'm already listening through the speaker and turn it off, the Odysee app exits. When I pull it back up, I have to browse back to the video to start again. (The video does resume playing from the point it stopped.) This is on a Pixel 4a with all updates applied.

Steps to reproduce

  1. Watch Odysee video
  2. Turn on Bluetooth speaker
  3. Observe that Odysee exits

Or:

  1. Watch Odysee video through Bluetooth speaker
  2. Turn speaker off
  3. Observe that Odysee exits

Expected behaviour

Video should keep playing, perhaps with a momentary pause, playing through with either the phone speakers or the Bluetooth speaker as appropriate

Actual behaviour

The Odysee app exits

System Configuration

  • Device: Pixel 4a
  • Android version: 13

The bug happens on 0.0.54 of the app as published on F-Droid, as well as 0.0.57 from Google Play.

Apk installation Android 14

Related to another issue, I have uninstalled the app and attempted to install the odysee-0.0.83.apk file from the release page, after having updated Pixel 7 to Android 14, resulting in failure. Attempting to install the apk file almost always results in the message "App not installes as package appears to be invalid."

Obviously, I cannot say if this is specific to the app, or somehow related to Android 14.

0.0.54 App Not Installed Error

When attempting either an update or fresh install to version 0.0.54 using APK downloaded from here, the app will not install or update and the message "App Not Installed" is returned. Recommend checking for stability or proper security certificate.

Grey Screen When Loading Channels

Since version 0.0.53 whenever you go to view a channel the screen goes to a blank, grey screen. The Home tab and Following tab still work like intended, but clicking on any channel icon or going to Following -> Manage brings up that grey screen. Clicking back lets you exit out of that screen but the channel never loads. I installed 0.0.52 and the channels load fine.
